Anyone shoot a .30-284 Shehane?

Considering this chambering for the upcoming season to mess with 30 caliber bullets.

Does anyone have any experience with this chambering and if so, what are some reasonable load velocities for 200s/215s or 230s in a 30" Fclass rifle?

Thanks in advance.

There is a shooter at Bayou Rifles, who necked up a 7mmWalker to 30 caliber. He calls it the ".300 Davis".. He is also on this forum from time to time, his handle is mdavis78102... I am sure Matt can help..

I chambered it this past year. I shot quite a few excellent mid-range scores with it and found it to be very forgiving in terms of load development (shooting 230's). I took it to LR and while it shot well (a couple of cleans at 800/900, decent scores at 1000), it was out-classed by the 7MM's in any kind of wind. I found recoil to be very similar to a .284 shooting 180's at 2850-ish.

It really does hammer at 300 yards though. I shot a 599-51X with it and the 1 blown shot was just a bad wind call on shot 17 of the last string. Too bad 599's don't win 300 yard matches around here.

How fast were you able to push 230's?

Wow, 2700 is pretty good. My 300wm was only going 2765. I could have went higher, but it really shot well there.
