Anyone ready to toss out your Sightron 8-32X?

Now that the new 10-50X Sightrons are hitting the street, I'm hoping some of you will be selling those old worthless 8-32X Sightron scopes! Let me know if I can do you a favor and take it off your hands at a very low price!

Should I give up my Burris Signature Select 6-24x44mm so readily? I think not! Especially since they went from $512 to $650 within two years. Buy now: moan later. Quality never gets cheaper. Cliffy

If your looking for an 8-32 Natchez has them on sale until march 31st for $699.00 and SWFA will beat that price by $10.00. I was quoted $702.00 to my door from SWFA. Still pondering it. I got another month and a half to make up my mind. Considering most guys paid over $800.00 for it new, they would most likely sell it used for $700.00.

I've just swapped out my reticle on the 8-32x56 SIII, now they just started offering other reticles! They have mil-dot, target dot and fine crosshair.

I want to buy another Sightron for my next long range project, its a tough choice. Do I really need a 10-50? ??? or just stick with the 8-32. ???

Otter, You missed one yesterday on this site. A guy sold a 8X32X56 less than a year old for $575.00 Which I think was a steal!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello out there, I just got registered here at Accurate Shooter.com. Came over from 6mmbr.com looking for some great info. and I come across this sightron thread. If you do not mind, could I please plug in here? I'am just in the process of trying to figure out which of two scopes to buy. No.1 the sightron S111 8-32x56 30mm with fine crosshair or the bushnell 4.5-30x50 elite 6500 30mm fine multi -x. If I have been rude in putting my two cents in please forgive me and disregard this message. I my defense I'am the new guy. But maybee I should be looking at the sighttron with the higher power. thanks john

I think it is ok to ask, John. Otter, are you offended? No? It looks ok.

While you can always dial down a big scope's power, they are big. I have two of the 10-50x60 Sightrons and two Nightforce 12-42s, one a BR, the other NXS. All are fine, big scopes. Did I mention that they are big? And heavy?

Kidding aside, IMHO these are not well suited for an average rifle. I use them on 30" barreled rifles with long-range, 3" forend stocks in the 17-18 pound class. If that is your application, they are great. If intended for a light to medium rifle, they would be a little overpowering.

Welcome John, I think this thread is open for debate.
I just traded a NF br 42x model for a SIII 32x because of the weight (my second).
I think you would be fine with either of the scopes that you mention.
I really like the Sightron for the money. I shoot 600 and 1000yd BR. and I've had no problem centering the dot on any target we use. I shoot a switch barrel rig and want to make weight with all my barrels.
I can resolve 6mm bullet holes at 600 with my Sightron. If the the atmospheric cond. is bad, it doesn't matter what your looking through, its all blurry at high magnification. It is nice to be able to crank down the power to a manageable boil.
I don't need more than 32x if its clean.
Other considerations are eye relief, side focus, field of view and amount of adj in elevation/windage and of course reliability, customer service and warranty.
These are SOME things that can be considered when choosing a scope. It's going to depend on what you are going to use it for. There are many opinions, what floats your boat.
I'll miss my NF, I just had to go with the Sightron for my needs.

Jim

I started the thread thinking it was funny. I've seen very few items sell for less than they are worth and scopes seem to hold their value better than most items. $575 would have been a steal. Guess I was digging in the wrong dumpster that day.

Otter, I thought it was funny too until I saw the guy selling his 8x32x56 Sightron for $575.00 and then I said Otter was right there are people ready to unload nice stuff at a low price if you are willing too wait!!!!!!!!!!!! Otter you were right on even though you didn't know it.

There is another one on this site TODAY FOR $675.00 not a bad price not as good as $575.00 but reasonable. Better hurry or it will be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
