Anyone Pushing SMK 7mm .183gr with a 9 Twist bbl.?

I've got a .280 FB reamer on the way and a 1-9 twist bbl. and was wondering if any of you'ns are testing the 183's with that twist.

Just started shooting them in a 9 twist and they are performing better than fair. That being said, I think you will find the FB to be a bit long, depending on the cartridge.

I'm shooting them in a 7mm Shehane and the FB is .225 which is marginal. My next chamber will be .189

I only shot 20 rounds (four 5 shot groups) at my range at home which is 117 yards. The temperature was around 25 degrees. My biggest group was a flat .400". No load development etc..same load I used with my 180 Bergers. I loaded the Sierra's .010" off the lands.

I've now got target at 415 yards so I'll play with them some more. My chamber is a .284win. with .150" FB.

Late last year at SWN I think it was the feed back I got was the cut rifled 1-9 twist barrels shot them with no problem but the guys with button rifled barrels had problems with them.

The Sierra 183 gr works with 1:9" twist barrel. Even at sea level here in Florida I was able to stay within the X circle for vertical spread at 600 yards. Now, in a 1:8" twist the vertical spreade was half of that (20 shots for record). If you live at higher elevation you can get better results even with a 1:9 barrel.
