Anyone know? Is the Savage 12FV history now?

I'm not sure but I think the inexpensive Savage 12FV is history now.
No longer to be found on Savage.com or Cabela's inventory (sold out).
Savage has a lot of expensive model 12s but not the 12FV any more.
At least I can't find it on their site.
I hope I'm wrong and it's one of my favorites too.
I have a couple and they've shot very well.
Just wondering, thanks.

I would imagine the contract with Cabela's (and now Bass Pro) has some kind of end date or quantity limit.

And Savage probably only has just so many questionable parts they can outlet building cheap but functional rifles for a big box store.

I have a pair of them. The 6.5 was really rough out of the box, sketchy extraction, very rough chamber, would copper foul like your worst nightmare, and the bolt was really sticky and would catch. The 223 on the other hand was smooth and perfect pretty much right out of the box. I'm glad I bought the 223 first or I might never have bought the 6.5.

After throwing all the bandaids at the 6.5 I could, it's a serviceable rifle now. Flex-honed the chamber to fix the extraction problems, lapped the bolt into the action, shot the whole box of Tubb Final Finish bullets through it. The bolt never really smoothed out until I moved it to a new stock because the OEM blind mag would push up on the bolt and contribute to the binding. A couple thousand hand cycles later, it's about as smooth as any other cheap savage. Which isn't saying much, but it's good enough for my uses.

Too bad. It was one of the last places I could find top bolt release Savages.

Stores in Utah says you can order online and deliver to the store for pick-up. However that being said I got a notice that what I ordered had been canceled with no reason why. Bass Pro/ Cabelas can be frustrating to say the least. To bad Sportsmans is being bought out.

I was checking Dick's Sporting Goods for the Savage 12VT (their version of Cabelas 12FV).
They do not come up at all on their website.
