Anyone heard of an "Opus" chambering?

I recently ran across a Hart barrel for sale, chambered for a cartridge called "Opus". This is supposedly a modified 300 Savage, with reduced capacity.

Never heard of it. Sounds like a 30 Hunter class variant.

If you are trying for a hunting rifle without getting too exotic, look at a TC Icon in 30 TC.

You can buy Hornady brass or you can make it from 308 brass.

Another option is to prevail on someone to sell you a non-competitive HBR barrel. It would still be a great hunting barrel

Nix all that. Sorry. If you are bothered by the recoil of a 7-08, you are unlikely to get what you want in a 30 cal. It's physics. Mass x acceleration. The Acceleration pretty much equates to velocity because of nearly equal barrel length.

Adding weight to your rifle, reducing velocity or bullet weight are the answer.

You can get a 6 BR to feed in a Savage single stack. Don't know what yours is. If it will feed, it would fit the bill for less recoil and muzzle blast while being very accurate at the ranges that you mention.

There is an added advantage of pretty-fit barrels being available. The brass is cheaper than most Lapua. It is stupid easy to get to shoot well. Tons of info available.
