I am curious if anyone knows who J. Penrod was and if he was well known. I seem to remember a smith by that name and if you know if he is alive and where was he from? Thanks in advance for your help.
I forgot to say A friend was given a benchrest rifle staped J M Penrod on the barrel in an aluminum stock with a sleeved Remington receiver with a fluted bolt. It weighs 11 1/2 pounds. He saya the workmanship is very very good to say the least,
It is J. M. Penrod(Mark Penrod) of Penrod Precision...very good and known smith. As stated, he is in North Manchester Indiana. He is a "true" machinist and not just your "back yard" gunsmith. Every rifle he has done for me has been to perfection and shoots. I think he turns out a real competitive rimfire rifle nowadays too. Very straight forward person.
Also, I don't think Mark sleeved actions, so he probably just chambered/installed the barrel on this rifle...don't take this to the bank, as I could be wrong about that.
