I am looking at one of these for a PRS rifle but i want to see if anyone has hands on experience and tested the scope.

I don't have the 4.5-18, but do think very highly of my 3-12 LRHS. Tracking, zero retention, and return-to-zero are excellent and glass is very good.

Do you have any comparision to other scopes as far as clarity goes?

You may want to search around the 'Hide for more reviews, they are more of a PRS crowd.

I don't own the particular model you seek, but have 2 G2DMR 3.5-21x50 and am very happy with them. As far as clarity, they are on par with my NF 8-32x56BR (gold lettering) on respective magnifications. I like the reticle for holds but would like to try an H59 to see if it is better or too busy. Have not used it past 810 yards yet and no dialing, just hold overs, but can quite clearly see a 2" black dot on a rusty steel plate.

Neither the NF nor G2DMR's come close to the clarity of my Steiner 25x binoculars, and that is looking through the house windows with the bino's!

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Gents,

Forgive the intrusion, and I'm not asking anyone to bad-mouth Leupold, but why Bushnell over Leupold? Glass? Mechanics? Ergonomics? Eric, I too am looking for a scope like the one you seek. Does Horus retrofit reticles into Bushnell products?

Thanks in advance for your replies,

God bless America

that helps alot thank you very much.

I will never go near a leupold agian after my dealing with the scope not tracking and failing miserably

I'm not sure that Horus retro-fits reticles, but they do license them to all major scope makers. Bushnell does offer at least 2 Horus reticles, the H59 and TRMR2. You could probably order a scope with your choice of Horus reticle, they have a wide selection on their website.

For competition I use a Bushnell ELITE ERS 3.5 - 21 x 50 with an H59 reticle and love it with my 6.5 CM Ruger Precision Rifle. But I may replace it with an XRS II 4.5 - 30 X 50 due to its higher power and HD lenses and its great value for the money.

For long range hunting here in Nevada I use a Bushnell ELITE LRTS 4.5 - 18 x 44 with G3 illuminated reticle on a 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro. Great cartridge/scope match.

The LRTS is, IMHO, a bit underpowered for PRS competition. But for long range hunting it is hard to beat, especially with the illuminated G3 reticle. With FFP reticles on low power the reticles tend to get "lost" but with illumination that is no problem.

Always get a scope with more power than you think you will use so you don't run into any optical problems at the highest power setting, as is common even with the best scopes.

I've owned three of the LRHS 4.5-18x44 scopes - two with mil/mil knobs/reticles, and one MOA version. Don't know how they compare to the newer LRTS, bave always been impressed with the glass in these scopes; it's very clear & bright, especially for a scope with only 44mm objective. I really like the low profile elevation turret, and the click/detents. I've always thought a ffp scope would probably be a handicap when running on its bottom magnification while hunting, but that heavy ring around the center of the LRHS's reticle mitigates any perceived liability of that factor in this scope. I've never shot a PRS match with mine; they've always been mounted on precision hunting rifles, while I use Kahles K624i scopes on my PRS rifles. But, when I exchange the Manners T3 stock on my current hunting 6XC for an EH1A, I may shoot this rifle in a few practical/tacticle matches just to see how I get along with a lighter, handier rifle - and how the LRHS does compared to my Kahles & Athlon Cronus scopes.
