Anyone handled the barrett fieldgrade rifle?

I hadn't seen it before tonight, and went to the site to see what it looked like. To me it looks a lot like a Remington. I was surprised at how many chamberings it is offered in, and they claim it is scaled to each chambering. It comes with a carbon fiber stock. Has anyone played with or shot one?

I'm interested. Thinking about a 22-250, the website says its a 1 in7 twist I wonder if that's a misprint?
If it came with a detachable magazine I would have already ordered one.
I think they call it the Fieldcraft.

It's not a misprint. I called them awhile back and verified. The 22-250 is a 7 twist.

I think they told me mid summer they should be shopping these rifles.

No, I haven't handled one yet. There are some observations you take away from their promotional website, though.

A Remington is a Remington, is a Remington. You can change the cosmetics slightly but it's still a Remington.

Top feed only in a blind magazine design. Yes, it's for hunting but unloading is a pain. A desire to be different without using DBM. Easy to carry.

Pinned bolt handle is a solution waiting to fail. But I'm sure they ran all the numbers past the bean counters to see that they had to do something cheaper but able to be justified as being better other than silver solder... No one-piece bolts. Another market for Kiff...

All the barrel/cartridge combinations are shorter than we are used to, obviously setting them up for suppressors.

All the barrel/cartridge combinations are faster twists than the varmint shooters would like to see except for the standard 10" twist for the .270 and the .308. Heavy bullets suppressed.

I think they hit the price point just about right. $1,800 to $1850 complete except for scope rings.

It would be fun to wring one out on the range then take it hunting.

I think the short barrel lengths are for weight, they made a point of talking about weight and the carbon stock. They touted this as a rifle to carry. A Remington with all the flaws fixed , a captured firing pin , a better extractor, custom machining tolerances, vertical angle sear to trigger, A real good trigger might not be a Remington at all.

I read a review somewhere that said bolt operation was not very smooth. Myself, I would buy a Forbes 24b and save both weight and money.

Not bashing anyone but I just checked Forbes website and I didn't see any rifles in the $1800 range. I have used some Forbes rifles and they are awesome but you pay for it.

Forbes 24b is around $1000 - $1200.
NULA 24b is North of $3k IIRC...

My brother in law just got one in 6.5 creed.
It looks like a remington but smaller.
Skinny bolt and smaller sized action.
With a fixed 6 swfa, it weighs in at just over 6lbs
