Anyone got load data for 6mm Creedmoor Berger 105 Hybrid and RL16?

Search, “6MM RL 16 Berger 105” and there’s quit a bit of reading on the subject but Zero333 is right about using H4350 data.

I use 37.5 gr of H4350 for 3060 FPS in a 28 inch barrel.

Good luck work up slow.

The Hodgdon website has a starting load for H4350 and the 105 grain Hornady BTHP as 39 grains (max 42.4). Nosler has a starting load for 105/107 grain bullets and RL 16 of 35 grains and a max of 39 grains (24 in barrel). Alliant doesn't have any load data for RL 16 and the 6 CR. Hence my uncertainty as to a safe starting load.

Sierra's newest book gives RE-16 and their 107 at 35.2 to 41.5. My 26 inch barrel seems real happy at 39.1 for 108 ELD-M delivering 2890fps. I also played around with this powder and was able to better Hornadys "match" ammo using 40.2 gr with the 108 ELD-M's getting just a tad slower around 2960fps but better accuracy.
Also as stated above,... it is dirty! 60 rounds on a new barrel and my muzzle brake is black!

I'm always curious when shooters make certain statements such as 'it's dirty' especially when I haven't found that to be universally true. I'm not disputing your opinion at all but I try to find an explanation for the disparity between answers.

In this situation I've run some of my own numbers then checked the manufacturers numbers for reloading the example bullets, in this situation, Hornady and their 108 gr. ELD-M.

Here, Hornady goes all the way up to 41.1 grains of Re-16 for 3050 fps but these numbers are from a calculator and not actual testing in a rifle or pressure barrel. Your load at 39.1 is probably (remember, I'm guess not accusing:)) based on your velocity is probably at a lower pressure node. But due to your findings of accuracy, that's where you stopped and this is a common occurrence for many shooters. Rather than waste time and expensive material, the first node where we achieve acceptable accuracy is where we stop. But sometimes at the lower pressure nodes, some powders exhibit fouling such as you found in your brake. The solution can be, look for a higher node which has the same accuracy but the pressure helps burn the powder more cleanly leaving much less fouling:). That's what I did and it is a good, viable solution. ;):D

Having previously only used Viht powders I find Varget to be as dirty as all get out in my 308. Sounds like RL-16 might be worse.

I had a friend run QuickLoad for me. 41.5 grains is their "dangerous load", when stepping in 0.5 grains. (That is, 41.0 is "near maximum".) Sounds like I should start around 37 grains or so and work up.

I have it for Berger 105 VLDH if you are interested.

Yes please.

Seating to touch implies a COAL of about 2.8155" for my chamber. I was planning to load from 38 grains, single rounds in 0.2 gr or 0.3 gr increments, until I see signs of pressure then back off a little for more detailed load development.
