Anyone else shoot with 2000MR in 308win or 6.5creedmoor?

Don't ask how I messed up and wrote down 215M for primer 210M's were used. Had to go downrange and photo the first 3 before I messed it up with the next 2!

I've used RL15 for years but wanted to ring some extra velocity out of my 308win. 22.5" Rock Creek 5R barrel, warning 50.7grs and above starts showing pressure in my rifle.

42.4gr of 2000MR in a factory 6.5creedmoor Ruger Precision is looking good also.

Ive shot it a lot and it gives great velocity and good accuracy but is very temp sensitive. It would be good for mid range hunting, auto loading rifles, and for practice shooting. It is relatively cheap and easy to get.

Thank you good to know, I've only started using it. I'll definitely watch it as the weather warms up here in MI and see if it'll work for me.

If your looking for somular velocity and less temp sensitivity i would try RL 17. It worked great in .308 with heavier bullets 175gr+

Ive run it in my 6.5x47 for 3 years now. While I have not measured velocity at major temp differences, the elevation adjustments for environmental conditions via a ballistic calculator have accounted for this out to 1000yd. Never seen any concrete velocity vs temp data.

Shot about 20 lbs. of 2000MR in FTR competition (.308 with 185 gr Hybrids) several years ago. It seemed to really like being pushed hard and was very accurate as long as the temps didn't get too high, it could get hairy when the heat was through the roof here in summer time. I went back to Varget & H4895 for temp stability even though they don't give as much velocity as 2000MR. Life is good now.

Nice looking gun you have MattS. Is that the Thunderbeast Ultra 9 suppressor on it?

Down South

Thank you, yes Ultra 9. I was worried about the stability of the powder at higher temps, it bums me out that this powder sounds like it's not going to be the answer I was looking for!

I did just grab a pound of RL16 to try out always shot RL15 in this rifle but want to find that one powder for all of MI weather temp ranges.

sbhooper, please be aware, our Power Pro(TM) 2000MR and CFE223 are absolutely not the same product. Your post above seems to indicate that association, but regardless of what anyone might say, it is not correct, and I am not only talking about the added decoppering agent in the CFE223. They are two different base propellants, both produced by St. Marks Powder.
Shoot well,
Paul
