Anyone able to run a Quickload Profile

Have never got chrono data on my .308 Palma rifle and have just tested a new load with the Berger 168 grain hybrid that shot really well.

The best groups at 300 yards were with 45.8 grains of Varget. Can someone with Quickload calculate an approximate muzzle velocity so that I can work up a range card for an upcoming 1000 yard match?

Barrel length is 31 inches, altitude is about 4400 feet.

thanks,

If you don't get an answer here, in general you'll need about 19MOA to get from your 300 yd dope to 800 yards. That should at least get you on the paper with the first shot.

After you get centerd up at 800, almost all the 308 bullets you choose to shoot will need about 5MOA from 800 to 900 and another 5 MOA from 900 to 1000. The 168 isn't quire as slipery as some others so you may need closer to 6 from 900 to 1000.

Can you give the bullet number I have six 168 bullet Berger bullets to pick from, and I don't want to cause you to miss the target. ???

biged,
Maybe you can see if Ar10 can help you run that program . ??? Sorry, I had to poke ya. ;D

Thats funny...................

But I hope your beer glasses are never filled to their maximum internal capacity.

(and all your rifles develop excess headspace) :)

Thanks, I ran Bergers ballistic calculator with a couple of variations on MV, but that bracket is over 7 MOA at 1k. I can dial it in on a steel gong with a spotter but would prefer to get as close as possible. May just have to breakdown and buy or borrow a chronograph...

31 inch barrel with 45.8 Varget and Berger 30425 looks like 2902 fps. But thats based on the COAL, bullet length and water capacity of case being what was put in the program. May vary 25 fps up or down.

OK, thanks. I used 2950 in one set of calculations, so that is pretty close!

I really appreciate the help. will be interesting to chrono this load and see how close to actual that estimate is.

Thanks again.
