Anybody use a Defiance Action

www.defiancemachine.com

Anybody used any off these actions. I'm thinking about getting just the reciever and then a PG&T bolt. Seems pretty cheap just wondering about quality.

I have built several rifles on these fine actions. Very well made. Options on port size, shape, tang design, bolt stop and single shot or repeater. Offered in SS or, CM, long or short action length, they fit the bill for most any build you can come up with. Priced well and short delivery time. Glenn and Lisa are great to deal with.

I used a Defiance action with the PTG bolt. Frankly I think you'd get a better looking and better working combination by buying the bolt and everything from Glenn. Plenty of work to be done on the PTG bolt to match the finish on the Defiance. There have been some issues with the primary extraction angles not working well together on some of the handles. Remember, the PTG bolt is made for a Remington and all the angles match the Remington and not necessarily the Defiance.

I bought a "spare" from SSG. Nate had tig welded the handle on already, so I side stepped the extraction issues. I thought Glen was suppling the completed bolts now?

Great actions and great service ...
Have both the one piece bolt and PTG actions. The extraction on the receiver with their one piece bolt is different than the Rem clone. Would recommend these actions to anyone. This is the same action that G. A. Precision uses, just under a private label.

Don't buy one unless you get the bolt from them also. Timing and extraction problems are a real possibility if you don't.

Correct me if I'm wrong. After a phone conversation with Glenn, I was under the impression that Defiance manufactures actions for number of custom rifle builders under their labels.

I just had Glen make a tubegun action for me and love it. I was unhappy with another custom action that I had: much happier with Defiance. Be sure to get the action with his one-piece bolt. There was a time when Glen did not make his own bolt, that time is past. Glen is the one who started Nesika Bay and yes he now makes private label actions for many top gunsmiths.

PS. He can make a pinned picatinny rail also if you ask.

Glen and Lisa have to be the most efficient people Ive ever dealt with. Incredible products, prices and customer service and dont forget one very important thing, Glen Harrison. We all who he is and what he's about. And for those of you who dont already know, there would be no such thing as Kelblys had it not been for him. Glen is almost unhuman as regards technical ability, quality and knowhow.

No doubt that he is capable of making a good receiver, but I will not buy what you are saying about making the Kelblys. For everybody's info Jerry Stiller makes more receivers than all of the custom guys put together leaving out McMillan.

Glenn is one of the original Nesika guys. They are pretty much the same action and very well made. GA Precision uses them for thier tactical rifles.

I would get the action and bolt as a unit. I really like the PTG bolts but get the action as a unit.

I think you mis spoke! Glenn Harrison was one of the co-founders of Nesika Bay, not Kelbly's. Ralph Stolle, Homer Culver and John Eaton made the first Aluminum actions with steel inserts. Ralph moved to Ohio and took everything with him. He and George Kelbly Sr. started the business we now know as Kelbly's Inc.
