anybody tried CCI 41 primers?

Hello,

I was just thinking that since everybody seems to go for the CCI 450's,i.e. small rifle magnum) as giving them the lowest ES/SD numbers, but cratered primers are still somewhat of an issue,at least for those of us w/ un-bushed firing pins)... and the CCI 41 is basically a 450 w/ a heavier, tougher cup. Seems like it would be a good mix... as long as it goes off,had some problems in an AR w/ a Jewell trigger... but that was largely a gun issue there).


Whaddya think?

I don't have any specs on the 41's... I used all mine up a while back and shifted to the 7-1/2's for my AR... hot, seem to light things off pretty well, and fairly tough as well.

I don't know if you can access this link from the outside,at one point the message board was by-invite-only, dunno if it still is), but over on The Palma Journal on DelphiForums, German Salazaar has some very interesting photos of a lot of different primers being ignited. Gives a good visual representaton of how much spark you get out of one vs. another. Only problem: no CCI 450 or 41. Damn near every thing else used in competition, though. Have to wade thru a bunch of stuff to get to them all, though.

The Rem 7-1/2 BR looks like a mini dragon's breath!!
