Anybody loading a Juggernaut in a 22" Barrel

My .308 has a 6 land 10 twist 22" barrel. It shoots the 175 SMK's well, but, I don't know if it will go 10 more grains and still get to 2600 fps.

Anybody got experience with a 308 win 22" barrel and the 185 juggernaut?

Opposite question, will these stand the velocity of a RUM 10 twist or will they vaporize.

thanks in advance

rchouser,
The 10 twist should not be an issue with our 185 Jugs. They should also work well in your .308. 3400 fps plus is where you start to get most bullet failures due to heat caused by friction ( barrel length) , long strings of fire where the barrel does not have a chance to cool , or in some cases barrel/throat condition. Twist rate would have to be very excessive to be the sole cause. 1-10 twist rate is not considered excessive. Let us know if you have any questions or need any more help!

I have avoided answering because honestly I have problem understanding your comment. No disrespect intended but I have never heard of a “6 land 10 twist 22” barrel”. A one in 10 twist yes. Also this comment “go 10 more grain and still gets to 2600 fps” does not make any sense to me…

I have a 24” Luther Walther .308 Win barrel that shoots 175 grain SMK well with MV of around 2,660 fps. It shoots Juggs also well with the same powder and an MV of around 2,650 fps with a slightly higher powder weigh (0.2 grain). If you mean 10 more grains of bullet weight, then my guess is based on my own experience yes with only 2” shorter barrel, you should be able to achieve 2,600 fps.

Thanks to all who answered. I am sorry about the description confusion. I asked both the questions because I have located a box of 500 juggernauts and that's a lot of bullets if they don't perform in my guns. I guess I will give them a "shot".

Park Ranger: I hadn't considered my M1A for these bullets. How are they shooting and if you don't mind, what powder are you using (operating pressures and burn rate matter in my M1A.

Barefooter56: Confirm that there is no difference between the Juggernaut Target and the juggernaut OTM tactical. I saw the FAQ answer that it is the same bullet, but, am checking one last time before I place an order.

Again, thanks to all for your insight.

I get about 2650 with 185 Juggs in my 22" Savage barrel using 2000MR powder. Your barrel may be different, but it's certainly not impossible to get > 2600 in a 22" barrel.
