Anybody know of H.K.Wineland?

I have acquired some rifles from an estate to sell for the widow. One of the rifles is a custom built Mauser in 6mm Remington. H.K.Wineland is on the barrel. Information on the internet is sketchy but apparently he was from Ohio and quite popular in his day. Any info would be appreciated.

I don’t know a lot about Mr. Wineland personally, but have heard some stories told. As a northwestern Ohioan myself, I have found a small cult following locally. He seems to have led a pretty quiet life and I’ve never had the opportunity to meet any of his family. I can tell you, however, as an owner of two Wineland rifles, they are very well built and very accurate pieces. I would definitely like to know more about the 6mm you are currently in possession of.
