anybody know a easier way to remove modeling clay after bedding?

I use modeling clay to fill holes and gaps in my actions when I bed them. The problem is the clay is a royal pain to get out. After doing piles of them over the years is their a better way to get it out other than a dental pick and bbq skewer? Or is this just the way it is and carry on. Thanks, Matt

'Tis a "Royal Pain" indeed. Often thought about this myself after doing a bedding job. Picking out pieces of putty is not what I call fun.

I have considered using a steam cleaner to hopefully "melt it out". I quit gunsmithing a few years ago, so have never tried it. Might work, might not. Might ruin a wood stock, don't know. Or warp plastic?

Perhaps very high air pressure might push it out?

Hope you find an easier solution! Joe

For the small holes could you use some kind of soft wax, and then heat the receiver to remove it? I have not done this but it seems to me that it would work.
