Anybody have experience with this stock?

I'm looking at getting a new stock for my Remington 700 .308.

Currently I have the Hogue Full bed block stock and it is great, but it's not adjustable and the grip angle is a little wierd for my hand. I'm looking to step up but do not want to break the bank (much). I want a new stock that is more rigid, and adjustable for me.

I'm looking at getting a Bell and Carlson A5 Tactical Medalist, but wanted to know if you guys have used it and have any opinions on it first. My primary use for the gun is prone target shooting, at some point I would like to get into F-class T/R competition and this will be the gun I use for that. I do also use this gun for hunting. I would look more at the HS and McMillan stocks, but they are very pricey and I'm trying to stay below $450 or so (I've found this stock for $400).

Gearheadpyro: For what it's worth, (probably not much), I have 3 of the B&C Medalist Tactical stocks, 2 on Savages and 1 on a Rem700. I believe that except for the adjustable cheeckpiece on the A5 they are very similar. I'm very happy with them. They really were drop-in fit, with the exception of a very slight amount of material having to be removed from under the bolt handle, where the stock mat'l, prevented the bolt from fully closing. I fixed it in several seconds with a Dreml grinder. The aluminum bedding block to receiver fit was excellent, and all three barrels are fully floated. I bought all 3 from "Shooters Discount, Summit MS., good people to deal with. The wide forend with the flare rides the front bag nicely, I like the vertical grip with palm swell, and the nearly flat heel rides the rear bag nicely. My son uses the McMillan A5 for his F/TR class, but had to wait 6 months to get it, and it was $$$$$$. :)

I have used many of them. For the most part they are a great stock for the price. Now i have had to put some partial bedding in a couple of them because i did not like the fit completely. I would have a good smith check to see how well your action fits in the blocks and you should be GTG.

The A-5 Bell & Carlson is the way to go...like you said short of an H.S, or McM.......If you do a search on snipershide you may find a used one a few bucks cheaper...if not shootersdiscount.com has the best price for a new one.

I haven't held one of the new Choate Tactical socks....they are on GunBroker in the $250 range....list by Choate Tool.
