Anybody ever seen a bell and Carlson stock crack?

I’m going to put one of these on a 458 lott. Has anyone seen recoil damage a B&C with the full length aluminum block? I plan to bed it before shooting as well so everything is tight, but the inlet looks pretty good from the start.

I recall beating one off a failed bedding job on a Mauser years ago…this was pre-aluminum bedding block days…that was a very tough stock.

At one point I could have come up with enough to laminate a blank, but it has been so many years since we did the third floor of City Federal Bank in Palm Beach, I doubt I could do scales for a knife handle. A friend was doing some work to a house in Stuart Florida and had 3 or 4, 18 foot long pieces of purple heart 16 inches wide and 2 plus inches thick. I got a piece of that but it isn't thick enough to do a blank.

Ran one over with a CJ5 many years back, one of their original versions from the 80's with the integral sling, not even a zero change, fortunately it was about 3" of mud in that spot. Still have it.

I have one with a Mark V Weatherby in 30-378. Been in use for 5 or 6 years, with no issues at all.

If you're buying it from Stocky's call Don up and ask him. I've only shot 6mm Competition Match as the heaviest hitter in mine, but I've been shooting it a lot since '07 and beat it around in PRS and it's held up great.

I have had several B&C stocks and never had one crack but the most recoil caliber I shot was a 308.

PS: When I was young and dumb, a close friend purchased a 458 Winchester Magnum after watching Dirty Harry. He already had a 44 magnum S&W revolver. I shot the 458 once, it was brutal with the 500-grain bullet factory ammo. Never again. My shoulder ached for a month afterwards.
