Any thoughts on this?

A couple of weeks ago I took my 6br out for some practice for an upcoming match at 100 yards it shot a 10 shot group into the 10 ring on an IBS score target. Happy camper.
Fast forward to this past Sunday I fired 10 rounds at same style target and could not put 2 within a 1/2" of each other, total group size probably 5". Now this is with the same ammo loaded at the same time stored in same box, same basic conditions sunny and calm.

Scope being used is a weaver xr T46 1 year old and already repaired once.
I will say weaver CS was extremely cooperative offering to repair, replace or refund. I originally opted for refund but changed my mind and asked for a replacement and mine is already in transit to Weaver.
My question is do any of you have any thoughts as to what may of happened, it did not get dropped or banged around and it is always transported in a Pelican case, nothing I could find being loose but I did notice the side focus was constantly being out just a little making it fuzzy. Looking for ideas so I can hopefully prevent it from happening again. Thanks

What bullets , any neck lube or chemical that could cause COLD WELDING so fast ? Wood stock ? Cleaning procedure , was it cleaned after last shooting or just put away ? Did it go from a air conditioned room to hot car ?

Berger 105's no neck lube laminate stock ( Shehane ) not cleaned (only about 15 Shots through it) no to air cond. and no hot car.

Last year I had the same problem with my .223 F/TR gun. One day good the next day horrible. After checking everything else, I changed scope and the problem went away. I sent my Sightron back to the factory, they did something which they would not reveal, and now it works fine. Like you, no drops or abuse, always carefully transported in a Pelican case, etc. I guess something internal got loose, they fixed it, and that was that. Unfortunately mine wasn't covered so it cost me more than I thought it should.

Bottom line: Some things in life remain a mystery. Keep your fingers crossed and keep some cheap whiskey on hand for those days when frustration gets too intense.

If everything else is as it should be, a 5" group at 100 yards is indicative of a broken scope>>>>guaranteed! If this is the 2nd time in a short while, I would opt for getting a different scope. Remember, if it's mechanical, at some point it will break. But how long between breaks is the question. I have some NightForce BR scopes that have yet to break and they have many rounds and years of use on them.

Just a question. Was the shoot and practice at the same range?

And a statement. Sometimes when I forget to take my BP meds in the morning, my eyes/vision can get a little squirrelly at the range.

Not only the same range but the same bench, same stool, same front rest same rear bag and same nut behind the trigger.
Also same time of day, no BP meds. or any meds for that matter. Three cups of coffee about an hour before but that is a constant.
Only thing I can figure is that something in side moved or fell off its position.

When in your Pelican case does the foam have cut-outs for your side adjusting turret(s)? I have used a hard case(not Pelican) with tight/firm fitting foam. I was using a mid-quality namebrand scope and apparently the pressure from the foam during storage and transport affected the crosshairs. From session to session the alignment would move all wacky and the next session things would work seemingly normal. I found if I worked the turret a few MOA to both plus and minus of my setting before shotting first shot of the day the turrets moved fine. I cut holes in the foam to match up with the turrets and all has been fine since then. Maybe was causing some turret binding from the extended time pressure was pushing on the turret knob and internal movement.

I'm leaning towards scope , especially since you said you focus was changing . It point to an internal shift or a mechanical problem in your scope .

Have you checked all of the scope mounts/screws...???? I took a rifle apart recently and removed the bedding because I thought that was the problem. I then decided to take the scope off to start the bedding process. Thats when the scope ring spun around and I had an aw crap moment.

Every thing on gun was/is torqued to spec. I even checked to make sure the seating depth was where it is supposed to be, took a few bullets apart to make sure I didn't screw up the load.
I have even ordered a new set of Kelby rings just to be sure when new scope gets here.
