Where is a good place to look for 6mmbr benchrest looking at getting into sport

Bob knows benchrest shooting, has an outstanding reputation in the business, and most likely will try to talk you into a 6mm PPC as opposed to a 6mm BR. Don't be concerned it shows the list is a year old.

If you are planning to shoot 100-200 yards in group, get the PPC. If you are shooting for score, get a gun that can handle .308 boltface brass, because you'll be wanting to shoot the 30BR. To play in varmint matches or 600-yard Benchrest, you'll want the 6mmBR or one of the 6BR improveds. Many of the older PPC rifles can be converted to handle a 6BR without much effort -- you just have to modify the bolt face and re-chambered.

Look for a used gun on this website and on Benchrest Central. Brunos Shooting Supply is a good place to buy a new rifle, and of course Savage offers several guns in 6BR for a great price.

The advice offered about the 6PPC is spot on if you want to win at the 100/200 yard game.

The 6BR is easier for a novice to work with though, and for most people just starting out it will be hard for them to make the 6PPC shoot that much better than the 6BR. Don't let the Internet "one hole groups all day long" stories fool you....consistent small groups amounts to rocket science.

I have a Borden action with Jewell trigger with a Kreiger 6PPC barrel with unknown round count, plus a new 6BR Kreiger (1x8 I think) barrel with brake on it. It is glued in a benchrest stock. I have not shot it, so I can not say how it shoots for me. The guy I bought it from had a target for the PPC that was one hole 5 shots at 100 yard. I will sell for $1900 and you pay shipping.
