Any Remington VSS "Sendero" Swift Owners Out There?

This is not the stainless VSSF series, but the blued/black varmint model with HS Precision stock, darkened jeweled bolt, probably 26'' barrel; commonly called a "Sendero" among non-varminters, (but, technically, that title only applies to similar long-action Remington 700s, I believe.)
Not exactly knocking myself out looking for a .220 Swift, and really would rather have one without a slow 14-twist barrel - want something that will stabilize and shoot accurately the 53-grain V-Max. Have run seen a couple of these VSSs lately at fair prices, and if they have 1/2" group potential I might "bite the bullet" and live with the fast-twist barrel for now. Already have some Swift brass, a couple of boxes of loaded ammo and a Timney trigger to fit.
All my 700s are at least 10 years old, as it looks like this model is late-90s from what I can see of the serial no.'s, so it looks like they could be decent quality with accuracy potential, and not the "iffy" stuff the Remington division of a huge multi-national conglomerate has been putting out lately.
Thanks in advance.....

I have a 14 twist 220 swift. Will shoot 30-55 gr bullets all day long in the sub 0.2's Nothing wrong with the 14 twist barrel. Not picky on powders either. N133, Rl15. IMR 4064 are shoot with bullet type. Scott

Can't help you on the Swift, but to clarify your point.

All Senderos were long actions, except the 7 & 300 SAUM in short actions were considered Senderos and so stamped on the barrels.

AMEN ALF! too many people calling the VSF, VS, and VSSF models senderos.

There was also the "ported" versions of the VS-P, VSF-P, VSSF-Ps and the E-Tonix.

I had a 220 in the VSSF. Shot very well with H414 and 55 grain ballistic tips. Killed my closest yote (from the hip, don't ask) and also killed my furthest yote with it! They do shoot. Buy one....you won't regret it.

My sendaro in 25-06 from the mid 90's shot great. Remington was doing OK back then. It's now living life as an tube gun Palma rifle.

Bought one in the mid 90's. IMR4064 and 55 grain Balistic Tips. Shot great!! Rreplaced that tube with a dasher, and now a 6-47L. Love that gun!!

I have the ported vssf in 22-250 & non ported in a swift.
Both are awesome shooters. Didn't understand the reasoning behind porting a 22-250 though.

Just picked up a nib 24" swift vs. It is a 93 model and will put factory 3680 fps Hornady 55 v-max well under .5" @100 yards.
Shoots so good I am not sure when and if I will work on another load for it. With that said I have a 2 year old varmint sf that won't keep anything under 1". It has been back to rem once, had 2 stocks on it with 1 bedded to it, 3 scopes, a Jewel trigger and I am not real sure what to do with it. Don't buy new.....I payed dearly for the vs though. Worth every dime now and it will never leave!

I own a Remington 40XB/SS in .220 Swift and 700 VFS in 22-250 - both have a 14" twist. Both will stabilize the 53 V-Max and the 55 Sierra BLitzKing, but only at maximum velocities.

Both bullets are long for their weight (0.825"), so shooting them in a 14" twist at lower velocities is a loss, but if you drive them hard, they "might" work for you.

The reported BC of 0.290 for the 53gr. V-Max is enticing, but keep in mind that there is no established method for determining BC values. The BC of the 55gr. BlitzKing is reported to be 0.271-ish, but in real world drop tests at 400 yds, the BC for the 55gr. BlitzKing is actually higher than the 53 V-Max.

It is easy to get drawn to big numbers, but with BCs, you cannot compare the numbers between different brands.

I was a little confused by your post. I have had five Remington swifts and currently load for three. all most all Remington swifts will have a 14 twist and shoot up to 50 gr excellent-- beyond 50 gr it's hit and miss. doesn't matter if it a sendaro, 40x, light barrel or Remington standard varmint contour barrel ----and length of the action doesn't have any thing to do with how good it shoots what grain of bullet. I'm not saying you can't get it to shoot 53gr but why try when 50gr shoots sooo much better in that gun... just my opinion though
