any reason to crimp a 30-30 bolt action?

Loading for a bolt action 30-30 with common spire point jacketed bullets in neck sized brass.

Not having to deal with the usual issues of lever action 30-30, see no reason to crimp.

Anything I'm missing?

Nope,
If the loading works better with no crimp vrs crimp your good to go just the same as any other bolt. ;D

Of course keep in mind some reasonable neck tension is needed for hunting loads vrs bench stuff just do to the riggers of the field. But I don't crimp my hunting loads.

Thanks for the reply. I always use a decent amount of neck tension, just don't want to crimp for no productive purpose. I'll load per usual and post the results.

No need to crimp for bolt actions. If you are deer hunting I would suggest you try the 125 Nosler ballistic tip bullet. I have been shooting it in my T/C Contender 14" barrel pistol and it hammers deer. I have used this bullet in a number of different calibers and as long as you keep it under 3100 fps muzzle velocity for close shots it works great on deer. For longer shots as long as you impact velocity is under 3000 fps down to about 1000 fps it works great.
