Any must have books...?

Just wondering if you guys have any books that are must-read or must-have, dealing with precision handloading and benchrest shooting. I've got Handloading for Competition, excellent book but geared more towards high/power ar15 kinda stuff, but still has a lot of info which can be applied to bolt guns. Was thinking about buying Precision Shootings Guide to Reloading, I think is what its called.... anyone have it? like it, hate it? etc etc etc

First, check out the books in our book review section. They are all "classics" in their particular genre.

I also recommend Glen Zediker's HANDLOADING FOR COMPETITION

Order from: http://www.zedikerpublishing.com/books/handloading/hlmain.html

I have the Precision Shooting Reloading Guide and would definitely recommend it as well as the Precision Shooting Benchrest Shooting Primer, it has many good articles on precision loading. Sinclair also had a very useful book that is no longer listed on their website, but you might find a used copy here and there. Try www.abebooks.com Another excellent site is www.rayrilingarmsbooks.com
German Salazar

The two books mentioned; Precision Shooting's Reloading Guide and Hand loading For Competition are essential books to have. I would also highly recommend Sinclair International's 'Guide To Handloading','Varmint Hunter's Odyssey', and 'The Accurate Varmint Rifle'. These books will put you in the right place. I especially like the Sinclair handbook and the Precision Shooting book because they, especially Sinclair) give you all the toolbox info. you will need; like primer pocket depth specs., thread to linear distance chart for popular threaded dies, fits and proper cleaning patch selection between jag and patch. I constantly use this book and refer to it often.

I just talked to Dave Brennan of Precision Shooting magazine and he recommended three titles.

The first was the already mentioned Precision Shooting Reloading Guide. Dave noted that this book is really unique in the fact that it has separate chapters devoted to particular disciplines, e.g. Highpower, Varminting, Short-range BR. This makes a lot of sense because each discipline has its particular requirements. A varminter needs lots of ammo, while a point-blank BR shooter wants ammo capable of "zero" groups.

Dave's second two recommendations are from Krause Publications: Metallic Cartridge Reloading Guide,M.L. McPherson) Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0873491807, and Cartridges of the World, Frank Barnes, Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cartridges-World/dp/0873496051

It's not a book, but every reloader should read Jake Gottfredson's step by step guide to Case Prep. Originally published in Precision Shooting, you can read it here: http://www.6mmbr.com/JGcaseprep.html

well I definately appreciate the info. I didn't even know Sinclair had a book on handloading. I'm going to order some stuff from them in a couple days, i'll definately ask about it. With all these good books mentioned looks like I got alot of catching up to do.. :)
