For those conditions I use SCHNEES Pack boots. They are so comfortable you won't want to take them off and they tighten up good to give you great ankle support.

I also have a pair of these uninsulated ones I use for goose/duck and pheasant hunting.

I also use these two for elk/deer and bear hunting and love them. I also use the above boots during real bad weather hunts for elk and deer.

The Kenetrek boots were too stiff and too narrow for me. Way too stiff for pheasant hunting.

I have mountain guides(400, NI) wear them pheasant hunting, depending on temps. Usually the no insulation pair is fine for walking. Shorter hiking boots, end up wet poking around half frozen cattail patches. I just ordered some gaiters(50% off) and heavy weight boot socks directly from kenetrek. Kenetrek has a sale right now.

i am watching the sale for sure.

i want to get an insulated pair next.

no more than 7-9:
looking at their rubber stuff now too...

i will check out the above brand too

dang , ups went by and didn't stop.
all leather coming fed x today.

the inside of my feet, mostly front half are numb with these hokas.

i am thinking vibram sole too soft

just got the slide rock hikers and trying with no socks and wear around the house for feel. so far so good

my front of my feet ain't wide, i have to get them snug as the leather ,no matter what, will stretch. then front will slide.

I don’t know about their less expensive offerings. But I’ve got 3 pairs of them mountain extremes and they’re fantastic. As long as you like a rigid sole. Waterproof, breathable, 4 season, great traction, great support, you won’t be disappointed. But for the price they should be. Meindl makes a great boot too. I have them for line boots, Hoffman modifies them for linemen, awesome boots. But kenetreks are spectacular.

I have a pair of Hardscrabble LTs and while heavy for hiking, here in Rocksylvania (‘the place where boots go to die’) they make sense.

Anyway I enjoyed them for about a season of general use and light hiking until I did a three mile pitch of continuous uphill, which showed the heel cup isn’t contoured deeply enough for my weirdly shaped heels. By the time those blisters finally healed I was in different boots.

So I’m not knocking the boots, they are excellent. But I encountered a fit issue that i couldn’t overcome.

Does Schnees have a sale time?

sweet!

i will check them out also.
insulated pair next.

slide rock hikers are working well now we have snow, much better that the Hoka!.

need a rubber, good traction with some insulation: with ankle support, more than a slip on

These are a velcro with a leather gusset. I use them for every day and mild stuff, they are comfortable and you won't want to take them off. But if you want ankle support and comfort go with the Hunter II 10" lace up, they will do what you need, I where mine in ruff terrain elk and deer hunting in some pretty steep stuff.

Which sheels now?

Tossed a pair of muck chore boot

Thinking rubber bottom, 400g thinsulate?
vs leather for the ankle support.
Not into hiking and breaking an ankle

Time is up for the kenetrex , both hoka have stb and been burnt .

Anybody have discount codes so i can get these sheels on stand by at my house. Pheasant season coming
