Any experience with Remington V3 shotgun

I know this is out of the ordinary for our topics here but - i have an opportunity to buy a V3 at really fair price but have zero experience with them. Don’t even know anyone that owns one and I’ve always wanted an 1100 style strictly because i hit birds with them more than other fine shotguns when using a friends 1100. Never even shot an 11-87 but this is supposed to be later model than the 11-87. Will shoot a few clays and doves with it. Any comments appreciated

I have heard they are soft shooting, reliable guns but with remington kaput, you will most likely not find parts for it should you ever need parts. Its basically (sort of) a lighter shorter chamber version of a versamax, however many of the versamax parts interchange with a bennelli

I run a V3 for dove, duck, and goose.

Purchased the least expensive version - plastic stock set, because I knew the factory camo will not like cleaning chemicals.

Using one of the camo tape kits made for this model, camo works perfect.

Fit and function - you are spot on about the 1100/1187 and V3. I REALLY like my 1187, but, purchased used, and I have used for the last 10 years, it is worn out. Not enough parts to replace to make reliable again.

Nice bonus of the 1100/1187 and V3 family - they use the same chokes! This was one of the reasons I purchased the V3.

Keep clean and lubed and this should last your lifetime.

Not sure about acloco but not a lot of dove hunting around here anymore like it used to be and I’ve had 6 cases of dove load for 5 years or more stacked up in the man cave. But i bought a used atlas last year and have plans for the fall !! I’m thinking i won’t wear it out but will break it in if it’s not already. I appreciate the input fellas. Going to pick it up Saturday and I’m pretty sure i will have to change the Tupperware to wood. I’m looking for the stock and forearm and a recoil pad and will try to go Remington if i can find them.

Check out CDNN Sports, just got a flyer with Rem. V3 walnut stock set for $39.95, sans recoil pad.
Bought from them several times, guns and accessories.

I bought a V3 for my son several years ago and it has performed flawlessly. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if needed.

Joe i appreciate the heads up - ordered the set and all i need is the correct recoil pad now. Didn’t see any recoil pads there. Those look nice too and a great price. I’m feeling better and better about buying the shotgun

To acloco, it is hard to wear out an 1100/1187. How many rounds would you estimate you put thru it?
I purchased used. Hard to say total.

All of the moving parts have noticeable wear. Receiver/lug area some gouge and wear. Bolt lug is rounded.

I replaced the spring and tube last year, thinking, neither had ever been replaced. Believe I was the first to remove stock and clean the spring and tube.

I LIKE shooting this 1187. Wood stock gives this a little weight in the butt (a good thing, in my opinion). Just fits me well. Have five chokes but only use three.

Did I mention I LIKE shooting this 1187?? Fits me well. Very confident with it on the trap/skeet/sporting clays/5 stand or in the field.

I am probably put 15K thru my favorite.

I hope the plastic recoil pad will fit the new wood stock.

Mine is fed a steady diet of 3" BB and never misses a beat.

All set - the recoil pad that perfect was limbsaver 10102. It fit perfect and the shotgun shoots like a dream. Less recoil than any semi shotgun i own. Now i just need another one because i think my son is going to claim this one !
