Any experience with Blaser LRS2 in 6BR?

I have recently gotten bitten by the 6BR bug. I was ready to have a rifle built, but remembered that my LRS2,.308 now) can be converted to 6BR easily.
Does anyone have experience shooting that set-up? Reasonably accurate? Decent barrel life, they ain't cheap)?
This would be used mainly for varmints and plinking out to 600 meters.

Thanks in advance,

lawndart

Here's a feature article about a Blaser with a sporter weight barrel: http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek012.html

Dave, the gun's owner reports: "The standard Lapua 77gr Hollow Point factory load shot an amazing .192” at 100 Meters in my rifle. The best handloads I have put together so far consist of Sierra 70gr Moly BlitzKings over 33gr of Varget from once-fired Lapua brass with Federal 205M primers with an OAL of 2.270”. These have printed consistent groups in the .610” range. The Lapua Match 105gr Scenar factory loads shoot into .395” in my rifle."

Can you tell my about your experience about loading for the Blaser with the with the 308 barrel? I had a rather
unsatisfactory experience with my rifle that was at last
cured by switching to a completely new barrel with
picatinny rail that was strong enough to support a nightforce
5,5-22 x56 scope.Now i´m using Lapua brass loaded with 43.5
grains of VV 150 and sierra MK 168 gr groups are from 0.25-1,00
inches.

Never had any problem with my .308, personnally I have 2 magic receipe:
Lapua brass with Fed 210m primer, 45.5g of IMR4064 155g Berger VLD moly coated,.25 MOA or less at 200y)

Lapua brass with CCI BR2 primer, 44.5g of Varget 155g Lapua scenar naked,.35 MOA at 200y)

Well the accuracy problem seems to be mainly consistence of
group sizes. Few days ago I shot a 0.17" 3 shot group with the
SMK 168 gr and the next group hover around one inch and the rifle
never shoots bigger groups than 1,0" with all factory match loads So I'm always looking for the magic load that gives me constant results about 0,5 "

The best factory ammo that I found was Federal Goldmatch 168g you should give them a try!:)

The problem you add with the Nightforce scope, was is caused by the saddle mount?,scope to heavy) I'm asking that because I just got a new LRS2 .308 with a Nightforce NXS 8-32x56 and this rifle will not group!:mad: I have 2,5"@ 200y instead of,5" with my last LRS2

i had one of these lrs2's in 6mmbr on test for a month. using factory norma diamond line with berger 105's i think, best 5 shot group was around .75 at 100yards.

i was seriously not impressed with this rifle. the accuracy was rubbish, i also tried factory lapua and the best it would do was .6 at 100 yards.

the stock looked like it would fall to bits if i looked at it the wrong way and the rest of it was not too impressive either.

i wouldn't touch one with a shi**y stick if i was you.

apologies to all blaser fans out there.

derek

Thanks for the response. Regarding to the replies i have got
to my first question the accuracy problem in these rifles at
least in 308 can mostly be traced to two things:

no 1. the detachable mounts and the fixed one can be the fault
when one installs a scope heavier than 600 grams about 20 oz

no 2 it seems to be worth trying to play with the fixing screw
tension on the two barrel bolts

No 3. The Blaser dealers seems not to be uniformally informed
about this scope problem and should inform the buyer about
ordering a picatinny mounts for the heavier scopes.

Just found the problem on mine, at first I thought that the problem was coming from my mount but found out that I was bumping the shoulder, first load with new brass) did a neck size with my wilson on the second load and got back my 1/4 MOA, could not be happier with my rifle:thumb:
