Any body use the Sellier and Bellot primers yet?

im seeing quite a few of these primers around, and I'm tempted to stock up on them since they are half the price of anything else, but I'm curious how their performance is. Anyone have anything to report?

I have used 5k from a few years ago with great results out to 1k. I just got another 5k, but using up the Wolf I have on hand.

Great primers at a fraction of the price. I have shot several thousand of the small pistol, small rifle, and large pistol. All have gone off with no problems. Very comparable to CCI primers in the way they load. Great primers for the money.

My chrono data with the Large Rifle Primers showed no appreciable differences in ES/SD when primers were the only variable vs CCI standard. They were very close to the BR2's. For my purposes, they're great.

Used thousands in small pistol, never a fail to go bang yet.. They seem softer to me when seating than cci but some say they are a harder primer. They also seem like they are not as hot as cci but I can only speak for their small pistol primers and have no data to prove that other than feel..

In small pistol be carefull when seating they are easy to flatten but thats easy to overcome with practice seating. They are half the price of cci here. And I have had zero problems with them, a great paper punching primer for me. The only other thing I hve noticed is they are not rounded like the cci making it harder to see flattened primers when looking for pressure signs. But for a known load they work fine. This is just my experience with them and things I have noticed over the last year useing them.

If you are considering them for competition shooting, you had better try them before going to a shoot! You might find that they are not as consistent as what is generally used by the guys shooting competition.
I have no idea who actually makes them.

So, how did they chrono, shoot for you?

I have 20K of them in SR, LR, SP, LP. Not a single issue to date on anything I have shot using them.
All my loads are still in the sub moas with them like all the other brands I use.
I do not shoot in comps so cant say anything there.

I have used Wolf then Tula for several years. Since good primers are drying up, I'm looking for an alternate primer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Have bought a thousand at Cabbalas to give a try. For the price, I'm not out much. Thought I might shoot these at 600 yards in my.F TR rifle. The cases, Lapua LR primer, I use are 3 to 4 times fired. They do not fit snugly as one would expect. My mic does show them a half thou. smaller than other common primers. My understanding is that CCI uses their more experienced workers to make the benchrest primers. If this is true, I thought I my might check the various primers from different manufacturers that I have. I'm a member of the "primer of the month club". Just kidding! Using a magnifying glass to look down into the primer compound I did notice spots, around the perimeter, that were not filled out properly in the standard primers. The Tula and S&B were properly filled to the edges. Is this just a matter of quality during manufacturer? Will be doing some chronographing later this week. Working up a load for my new barrel and getting ready for a match in a couple weeks. Like to hear more about this subject from others.
