Any 7400 remington gurus here?

Drop the trigger group and stick your finger up behind the bolt and run it along the bolt rail. All those bumps and humps are jamming up the bolt.

Its not mine and upgrading is not an option on this one. I have a very old 742 my father gave me that doesnt jam and a whole safe full of custom rifles so it doesnt concern me except helping out an old friend

I have a different opinion(I know! lol!)about what causes it. Being hard to clean properly, a vast majority of them have pitted chambers. Many times, I've solved the jamming by cleaning and polishing the chambers on them. FWIW.

Very true! Seen a good few rusted chambers in Rem 740 - 7400 auto loaders and 760 pumps. BAR Brownings too. Rains like crazy here during critter season, and many owners of these guns put them in a gun case wet, and bingo - lot's of rust.

I am no guru, but I had a 742. This shop does seem to have a lot of experience with these and even converts them to pump. This shop has a good local reputation for doing good work, but I have not had any work done by them and am in no way affiliated with them. Good luck!
