Wondering if anyone has shot out a 6bra barrel yet. Approx Velocities of 2985.
Rich, thanks for the reply. For now this barrel is parked on the shelf. Will spend some more time with my borescope and get some additional feedback with different sets of eyes. The SD on the ammo for this barrel has been adjusted at least twice.Response to Ben's post (not 6BRA)
6 Dasher 1.5" five shot groups at 500yds is easily doable in good conditions much higher than 400 rounds on a barrel. All barrels behave a bit differently but as the Dasher's throat erodes you need to adjust your tune. I don't use a tuner but know I need to + up my powder charge every few hundred rounds to keep the gun in tune. One of my Dashers just went over 1,000 rds, has .050" of throat erosion from new and it is still shooting pretty good. It is capable of 1.5" five shot groups at 500yds and I will take it to NBRSA nationals as either my primary of backup rifle.
Good shooting
Rich
Jim, little slow to respond but I am interested in your set back process and frequency.I notice no body talks about set back. I had a great barrel, a Brux that was set back 3 times, and had over 3000 rounds through it and still shot in a 1/4 min. without the need for wind flags.Great barrels I will shoot till they are less than 24" at 1000, Then they are great varmint barrels. They don't quit, just because they are set back...... jim
Good advice thankyou... I will be setting back a 6BR Barrel I have now that otherwise wouldn’t have..I notice no body talks about set back. ask @pat fulghum
He just put one away after a very successful F-open campaign. Something like 3k rounds...
Yep... put one to bed (Krieger HV) at 2900 rounds. I never measured total growth ...
It started out at .001 every 100 rounds, but I stopped measuring it after about 500.
But I do know that I had .065 at 2300 (Yikes), when I had to switch to Berger 108s as the hybrids were just hanging on to the brass.
How was it shooting? Still good but about 1 in 60 shots would fly a little. Thanks for sharing, that's a good number for a 6mm. How was it shooting when you finally pulled it? Did it lose much velocity and/or did you add powder to compensate?
I'm assuming you chased the lands from your above comments. You have a 104 freebore?
This is something I see, many times the best groups from barrels are after it's rechambered..I notice no body talks about set back. Ray, You hit the nail on the head, Great barrels last a long time. If you take care of them...... jimThis is something I see, many times the best groups from barrels are after it's rechambered..

A barrel will last thousands of rounds. The question you should ask is how much am i spending to go to matches without a fresh barrel? Pat could have shot that barrel another 4000rds but having a fresh one on there i bet he wished he would have changed it 1000+ rds ago. Its all in how well you want to do and how much you value winning.
