Antimony Shortage for Primers?

On 7-10-22 Trey Gowdy on Fox News Sunday Night In America interviewed State Rep. Michael Waltz of Florida. The part that struck me was Rep. Waltz said that there could be an ammo shortage here in the USA because China and Russia have all of the Antimony used for primers.
The interview starts at 24:30 minutes. The antimony remark is at 26:40 minutes.
Does anyone know how antimony is used for primers?

I cannot find any mention of antimony in the use or production of lead styphnate.

I found reference to antimony sulfide as a possible source of lead free primers...

Other than that, my only guess is Waltz has Vista stock and is trying to elevate fear. ??
Which is also what these kinds of thread do.

U.S. Antimony corp opened a processing plant in Montana a few years ago. The raw materials come from Mexico.
Antimony is considered to be a “strategic metal” and wartime applications include antimony oxide used as a flame retardant in plastics and textiles for vehicles and aircraft, antimony metal used in storage batteries and in ordnance to harden lead, and antimony tri-sulfide for primers in ordnance and rockets..

My understanding is it helps control friction ignition. Primers, match heads, tracer rounds.

Fuel component is antimony sulfide? Then you have the explosive, oxidizer, body structure of the primer. Can buy it(antimony sulfide n Amazon).

Half our problem is we buy everything from somewhere and that puts us at a disadvantage right of the bat.
now you already created a possible availability issue before you step out the door.
We need to get more self sufficient as a whole in this Country

If you take the time to look up what country has the most antimony it will put this in a better perspective as to why there could be shortages. But then that's not as much fun just saying something.

Nothing new to see here, if you aren't willing to take a few moments to double or triple check what you are reading about, ... then yes you should run around like your hair is on fire.

Perhaps you may remember the old saying, ... put your brain in gear before putting your mouth in motion.

Interesting read on how it's mined.
Seems Idaho is where it's located. A Canada company owns the mine.

American Indian land, fish/wildlife, EPA all mixed together have an issue with the mining of it.
It's used in batteries ... So maybe the US will want it more soon
