Antelope #2

Went out to the prairie after church again today with the wife and dog, hoping to find another antelope for the freezer. 15 minutes into our hunting this buck presented himself. I lazered him ,check the wind( a faint breeze directly from me to the antelope) and dialed in 8.5 minutes of elevation. 615 yds. later my 130 gr. Berger hunting vld found the base of the neck just in front of the right shoulder , destroyed the left lung and took most of the left shoulder with it out onto the prairie. This poor goat stumbled down about 15yds into a gully and curled up next to a yucca to rest.

Was indeed a good day my Brother. Church, Pork supper, family, Pronghorn chasing.............Nothing better.

After James' was down, Mama and I went looking to fill another tag. I miss-doped the breeze at 930yds on a doe. 20minutes later I found this dumb one at a mere 686.

Nomad , antelope hunting is too much fun to miss out for too long. I had the wife the dog and all with me. I do view antelope hunting more as a shooting sport then actual hunting hunting , but It is quality time spent with family. I had more fun this year because my brother and his family also hunted the same area and it made it Great.

As a swamp/woods hunter I like watching vids of the open country hunters. It's a completely different style of hunting that's for sure....and quality time with family is always #1 in my book too.

Nothing wrong with swamp/woods hunting TC, we do that here as well. Seems thats where the Elk always are.
