ANSCHUTZ MOD 54 SUPER MATCH

20200726_140829[1].jpg I have the above rifle and want to mount a scope on it. there does not seem to be a way to mount a modern scope on the receiver. there are scopes mounts on the barrel to mount an old style long thin scope. There is also place to mount the target peep sight on the receiver. This rifle came with the original steel case, and all the attachments including a spar trigger and two rear but plate assemblies. Also included is a bunch or inserts for both the rear and front sight, also came with the heavy palm front rest.

Has anyone had a scope mount made for it or is there a set of mounts available for it.

Nick, If there are grooves in front of & in back of either side of the loading port on the receiver top https://www.diproductsinc.com/ makes rails for the model 54. If the grooves are there, but not screw holes you have to let them know & they will send set screws to hold the rail in place. I just put 3 sets on 2 '54's & my wife's '64'. The rails are Picatinny type. I just took a scope off one of my CF F-Class rifles and it fits perfectly on all 3 rails. My son's 1984 Olympic model Super Match 1818 has groves but no holes. The set screws worked well.

I have a 1413 that may be a bit newer than yours and ran into the same issue. Here is what I found that works for me:

I have a Weaver T36 mounted on mine, using this base with Warne rings - works great!

I forgot to mention that this is a single shot rifle and will need clearance to feed a bullet from the left side. Feeding from the right would be awkward. I am thinking that either of the suggested mounts will work. The long one would need the center cut out and scree holes drilled in the front to hold it in place. The single place mount for the rear could also work as the rifle has no recoil and further there will be no stress on the scope.

I don't know how anyone can shoot this rifle through the rear peep sight. Even at 25 yards I am guessing my aim point. Still I managed to have one five shot group of 3/8 inch. many others less than 1/2 inch.

This rifle was made somewhere close to 1960. Serial number starts with 23,000. It is near perfect condition. almost factory new condition with one small mark on the stock.

I have not bought it yet but have it in my position to try. If I can get the scope figured out, I will own it.

Could you send me a photo of the scope mounted on the rifle. I really would appreciate it. I love the Weaver t36, I have two both XR's. Only problem is they won't focus at 25 yards. I have an CZ 457 MTR I shoot at 50 and 100 yards and love it.

Nick,

Here is what I have done with a Match 54 that only had the rear groove. is a BKL 554 rail adapter as you can see the loading port can be access from the left.

Now that's what I need. I am going to order one as soon as I find their web page. That is a great looking answer to my problem. Thanks for the photo. this clears my head of something I was really worried about.

PM sent, but I will post the pics here as well. My T36 focuses down to 50 ft. I shoot in an indoor league in the winter, on a 50 ft. range.

I have two T36 XR's. Neither will focus below 50 yards which of course is 75 feet. They are great at that distance.

Got your PM. Thanks

Nick

Mine must be a different version of the T36 then. I just checked and there are still 3 feet in a yard, so 50 yds. actually equals 150 ft. ;)50 Foot Focus.jpg

Well, I bought the Anschutz. After reading the answers to my questions about the scope mount, I remembered that I had a couple of 22 rim fires here with scopes mounted on them. So I removed the scope from one of them and mounted a Bushnell I had on hand. Not sure I will keep it on the rifle, to me it looks out of character on that rifle. Many thanks to those who took the time to answer my questions and especially to my number one son for finding this for me.

Would yoy sell me the extra butt plate assembly?
