Anschutz groups mine and wifes

So we shot some test groups. The match we shoot on Friday nights is at 27 yards. My wife’s rifle seemed to like everything. Her best group was with the Norma Match ammo. Thats three shots. She had several three shot groups around this size.

My best group was with Eley club. Good group but not her .033 MOA!!
Both of these rifles shoot amazing. Cant wait to spend more time with them and get better with01F56DA5-1082-4FBF-8697-6529B05B9112.jpeg them.

LOL when I read the title of the post I thought I bet the wife beat him
and sure enough.:D

Guess you doing the dishes for a few days.
She shoots incredibly well. I am going to make an excuse though. My front action screw worked its way lose. So I have that!!!

She had probably 7 groups that were ragged bullet holes. That one in the picture was just ridiculous!!

My wife was kicking my tail in pistol within a month of her first time ever firing one. She went on to win at IDPA and Glock challenges before she screwed her back up. Thank God she does not like rifles.

A buddy of mine who taught her had also taught pistols at our State Police academy told me that women tended to better shots in general. He would tell them what to do and they would do it every time. The men would do it the way he taught them 3 or 4 times then decide they had a better way

edit, BTW what matches are you shooting at 25 meters?

Its a small local group of shooters. We shoot at old milk bottle seals with circles drawn in the center. Its a load of fun.

Bottle cap matches! I first learned about them a year ago, then saw an article about a club back east that does them. A guy had made a really sophisticated device like a turntable to measure the target runout with a dial indicator. Closest to center wins, and sometimes the difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place was a thousandth or 2!

I taught my wife everything she knows ! That is the only reason she can outshoot me with with the same new build. Sad thing is she doesn’t enjoy shooting so much

I would guess thats the group I am shooting with. The club is in Maryland. Small club but the best group of people you could ever want to shoot with.

I shot pretty well last night. Won a little coin. Here are my best caps. 0C64595D-D077-479F-8222-37CB4703C960.jpeg

HBP,
That is good shooting! I built a measuring device and then a punch for making the discs, we did these matches for a while until the local indoor range closed up. I held an outdoor match a few times and the outdoor elements changed the results considerably. I'm going to push a little bit this year and make a few happen. It's a challenge unlike most. Glad to see others are doing this.

Thank you! Its a good time. I am working in making the discs. The actual milk bottle caps are near impossible to find. I am using a Silhouette machine That punch looks pretty slick.

The bottle caps are non existent here but a local individual produced an original Hubalek Ballard shooting kit. From this we got measurements of the discs, which were 1.610" diameter and .050" thick. Hobby Lobby had white poster board that came in that thickness and we were off and running. Shooters were responsible for marking their own centers so that added to the challenge. A center head and a real fine marker making a cross hair became the norm rather than trying to locate a dot in the center. In nearly 5000 targets shot locally, we saw one disc that came up with a run-out of .001" so it happens but it's rare.

The caps we are shooting measure just a bit larger than that. I have a Cameo which we mainly use to cut vinyl. I am going to cut some test discs tonight out of chipboard. Its just a but thicker but I am hoping it works out alright.

We use a round plate with a hole in the center to draw out center aiming circle. The Cameo is capable of drawong the center also if we can figure out that part of it. We have never used it before so will just take some tinkering.

Here's what the original kit had for marking centers using an ink pad.
a couple of my targets and one that wasn't mine...
Keep us updated it's a fun discipline.

Was it your equipment that was written up in the ASSRA magazine sometime in the last year?

I don't remember seeing the article in the Journal but I did do a post on that forum about it- I generally scour the Journal as they come out, even more now that Joe is at the helm. I have an article mostly written up but like several of them, they need a little more and proof read.
