Anschutz 64 MPR opinions

I have a few questions, first off I have a anschutz 64 mpr involved as a partial trade for my AIAW in .260. What is the 64 worth in like new condition? What kind of accuracy is to be expected with premium ammo? looking to use this in small bore precision rifle matches IE steel targets with varying distances out to 350-400 yards.

~850.00 or so. Some of these shoot.2-.3 at 50 meters - some might be better. Not as good as a 54 based Anschutz but probably as good as most anything (other than full customs) out there. In MY opinion definitely a much better bet to get a shooter than a Savage or (a step up) CZ and probably equal to or slightly better, in factory trim, than the average Rem 40X or Win 52.

If you are going to shoot ANY .22 rimfire rifle at the yardages you are wanting...... This gun will do it as well as any. At 350 yards wind reading is going to be many many many times as important as a gun that will/might shoot a tenth better....

Just my .02. :)

VERY WELL STATED AND I AGREE 100%! My 64mpr consistently outshoots all those (and even much better and more expensive rigs) that 1Merlin mentioned - although that's at 50 yd competitions as IMHO, 350 yd with a .22 is just wasting ammo.

They used to offer two different barrel options. Mine is a Stainless steel barrel which they don't offer anymore.

You will be lucky to hold 1 moa at 150 yds especially for 20 shots, it gets much worse after that.

I would lose every single penny in my pocket on anyone shooting 20 in 1moa @ 150 yards. Every day......

Thanks for the input, the course will be dictated by time of flight in relation to a .308 win using a 175 smk at 2650. Meaning, comparing a .22lr time of flight to that of said .308. If the .308 takes 1.3 seconds to reach 1k yards "hypothetically" I will match the same time of flight with the .22lr and put the 15 moa target "1.5 moa per hundred yards" at that distance. A scaled down long range course. As far as being a waste of ammo at 350, for some I can see that.

Anschutz 64 factory target.

That's all well and good but that target was shot off the rifle (without stock) being held in a vice. I've seen that duplicated off the Benchrest position (with the factory stock) with a 64 MPR. Make no mistake, the rifle is extremely capable so long as the shooter does his or her part and they are using the best match ammo that is has been tested and matched to the rifle.

ARIZONA, thanks for posting. The trade deal fell through, I sold the AIAW for $6500 outright. Now I guess I will figure out what I want to get. Looking in the $2k realm and it needs to be a repeater, any suggestions?

Anschutz...

64 Series - 64 MP R....

54 Series - 54-18 MSR (hard to find) would be absolutely splendid.

1710 - 1712 - 1730DHB Would be excellent.

1712 barreled action installed in a custom stock would be nice.....

None of the custom rimfire repeater actions seem to actually work with a full magazine.

You could have a Remington 40X modified to repeater. New to market and a wait to get it done.. Might be a very nice setup.

Buy a Winchester 52C repeater and have the 26" barrel cut and set back ( or a new your choice barrel installed) and the gun pillar bedded. ---This is what I did.

Not to disagree with 1 Merlin, but IMHO, stick with one of the aforementioned Anschutz models as they consistently outshoot either the Remington 40X or a modified 52C. Finding someone to do modifications CAN lead to a long wait, not to mention getting something worked on if mods have been made. My experiences over the years have shown me really good Centerfire Gunsmiths are hard to find. Really good Rimfire Gunsmiths are darn near extinct and those you can find are backed up, not to mention the added expense of having work done. But if you have loads of money and nothing but time, I'm sure you can get in line and eventually get the work done. Just my thoughts.

If I had that much to spend, I would be looking for a 54.18 MSR action and put it in a stock suited to your intended purpose.

Since I didn't want to spend quite that much, I have a 64MP-R SS that I bedded. It shoots awesome, but I would like to try something different for the stock that emulates the Eliseo chassis on my Barnard F-T/R rifle. I have talked to Gary about producing one, but don't know if he is going to. If there was sufficient demand, I bet he would make a few.

Yes. Google.

lol ;D

Actually..... ;D

Shynloco is most definitely correct.... If you want to SHOOT.... without any drama....Sure is a lot simpler to just buy an Anschutz to start with.....

I have several of everything and for me/IMO - the 54 Anschutz is the true King of Rimfires.

I have seen them shoot and the shoot good.

One thing is though dont discount a good 40x. My 1959 40x shoots right beside several high end Anchutz 54's and shoots hole for hole with them every time.

My 40X shot lights out too but ..

BAT man says he wants a repeater...While 40X repeaters are available I have not seen them within the $2,000.00 limit that BAT man wants to hold to...
