I don’t care if it is just a pig, you are a twisted POS!!

I’ve shot several and they can be killed humanely with one shot. Sure it does happen, but to brag about listening to an animal squeal for a while after you shoot is freaking sick!!

Just FYI. Texans have a very dim view of wild hogs. They do millions in crop damage there every year. They have two litter per year, are smarted than deer and adapt to hunting pressure. Fish and Game there have no earthly idea about how to stop them. As far as Texans are concern they are just huge corn eating rodents!

Edit: I have shot two of the in the road with my 9mm. One shot one kill. Dragged them to the side of the road and went on my merry way. ( I lived in the sticks there.)

I grew up in the south. Have spent lots of time in Texas. I have friends as well as several relatives who live in the state.

I’m well aware of the issues with wild pigs. I’ve shot plenty. I and everyone that I’ve hunted with strive for a humane kill. Any wounded animal is dispatched as quickly as possible.

Idiots who get on a shooting forum and brag about wounding and then relishing in the suffering of an animal serves only to make us all look bad.

I hunt whitetail in Texas and we are overrun with wild pigs. I do my best to insure that anything I shoot is a clean kill. I shot a porker last deer season, knocked it flat on the ground and it jumped up on a full run.
I couldn't get a round chambered fast enough and a lead on it before it disappeared into the tree line. I didn't lose sleep over it and no one on the lease was upset with "one that got away", sometimes pigs get away after being hit, "it" happens.
I didn't take it as OP was glorifying the incident or bragging, merely stating what happened. Hope you have better luck next time Dan.

Sir, I agree with your post 100% up until your last paragraph. It does happen!! We’ve all hit animals that didn’t result in a clean kill and it sucks. It’s an unfortunate part of killing. I was raised hunting and shooting things from a very young age and I was taught to make every kill as quick and humane as possible. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a pig, a prairie dog, or a trophy deer I will strive to dispatch it as quickly as possible. Sometimes they get away wounded and die a slow death. It’s part of it, but not the fun part.

I’ve saw enough posts from this OP bragging about opening up and blasting into groups of pigs and the results to know that he and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum. To say that he rubs me the wrong way would be a huge understatement. Quite frankly I don’t believe this crap belongs on this forum. It has nothing to do with hunting and definitely doesn’t involve accurate shooting. There’s currently another great thread about Texas hog hunting and nobody comes off like this guy.

Simply put Dan on your "ignore" list and move on. Then he won't rub you the wrong way.

My last paragraph was merely my opinion and I understand that you may disagree with it.

I agree with Kmart, if the OP gets you this riled up you should just put him on your ignore list.

O.K. enough is enough as Kmart posted just hit ignore. I've always posted that I've tried to find the runners, with the brush grown up like it is behind me it's next to impossible.
The prong horn in your photo, how long of shot, how long did it take to get to it,did you high five your shooting partner, did it bit the dust immediately,is not taking the photo
bragging? Lets get on with life and blast another.

No I’m not putting you on ignore, but I will put this thread on ignorance and catch you on the next one.

I believe that you are probably just trying to be cute, but it’s really not. As shooters and hunters we are already fighting an up hill battle in the public’s eyes. There are people out there who would rather take your guns and poison those hogs than let you shoot them and they are gaining ground on us.

There are plenty hunting posts made in good taste, you just can’t seem to manage one. Maybe spend some time reading about others hunting exploits and take a few hints.

For some reason you seem have a substantial following on here so I know plenty will disagree with me. Thats thats ok too!! I’ll speak out against these type of posts until admin pulls the plug on my account.

It’s a private forum and someone other than you and I gets to choose what kind of image they want to portray. Quite frankly if yours is the type of post they choose to allow, I would not feel a great loss being excluded from participating.

Hey, I’ve got an idea!!! Why not you and anyone who’s supports your crap put me on ignore....lol

Catch ya next time, Out!

This post could fade away if you'd quit. You have brought it to the attention of all, move on.
Captain Dan probably heard a few NVA regulars squealing in the jungle during his 2 tours in Nam as a corpsman, and never felt remorse. Some people earn the right to act a certain way.
Right, wrong, or indifferent, I'm not about to judge him on this, let it go, not your job to catch anyone.

Here in Texas we look at pigs as vermin. They will tear the hell out of your place. If you have to loose an animal it is best being a pig. I hate to loose any animal or let one suffer, but if it going to happen I hope it is a pig. The damn things can get knocked down by a shot and you think they will stay down and they get back up running. A lot of times they don't bleed, so tracking can be difficult at best. There is places I hunt that is so thick you can't see 2 feet, let alone go into it 2 feet. And in those places there is no way in hell I would go after a big boar. Pigs are so tough they can go thru the thick stuff at full speed and we cant even walk thru it. I try to get them killed DRT, but it doesn't always happen that way. And we don't eat everyone we kill. The boars usually taste like they smell, if they stink. Now deer, on the other hand. Totally different category. We will go thru hell and back to get them. Even if it takes all night and day. That's why I have the absolute best equipment that I can afford. And why I put all the time and money into making sure my rifles are shooting as accurately as they can and zeroed the best they can. That way if things go south it was on me. And by the way, the pigs we have in Texas, they're ass holes and deserve to be shot.
