Another Enfield question....receiver screw angle?

So I drilled my stock blank to match the CTC holes for the front and rear receiver screws. Intuitively I drilled the holes to be perpendicular to the bore axis. When I threaded the inletting guide rods into the action to begin inletting, I found that the rear guide rod was angled slightly forward. Angled forward enough to not allow both rods to fit into the holes of the blank. The obvious question is "Is this supposed to be this way?" All of the other receivers I've worked with have been drilled perpendicular to the bore line, and parallel to one another. For this reason I assumed they were all that way. Any help here would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Both 1917 Enfield and 1903 Springfield rear action screw holes are angled slightly forward. The heads line up with the curvature of the trigger guard in that location.
....the amateur gunsmith learning curve seems sometimes to be a steep one. And the corresponding assumptions seem to go for about $100 a pound. ;)

Thank you, Sir, for the lesson. It is much appreciated.
