Got to have another wonderful half day hunting again Sunday. My best friend got me into calling 3 years ago and then moved away so I don't get to go with him much anymore but another good friend was there to keep me at it. This time I got to go with both of them and one of their fathers. I didn't take my daughter today as the snow would have slowed her way down. We went out to a place where I have 2 sections that I can hunt and we have left them alone so far this season. We parked and began getting ready and the first guy out of the truck looked behind us about 200 yards to see a big bobcat cross the road and disappear into the brush. We set up and called with no luck of him coming back to us. We gave up and went on in to call some more but didn't have any luck saw one coming in after we gave up on our first set but it got away too. Made some more sets with nothing to show for it except some taunting from our adversaries in form of a serenade. After that we picked up our ball and left. Drove around a little and had time for one more set, so we went back to the same spot where my daughter and I had luck earlier in the year. Sat down and it looked like it was going to be a bust when another female decided to temp fate. We used hand calls this time and it worked like a charm. She was going to try to circle all the way around us and get down wind but I didn't let her. 144 yards out and she stopped, for good. I feel extremely lucky to have such friends to be able do this stuff with. We are only in our 30's but I appreciate it like it was my last hunt. This is more fun to me than any other hunting. I also can't say enough about the gun I chose for this. Tikka T3 in 22-250 shooting the 50 Vmax at 3640fps 4.5-14 VX3 with CDS turret that go out to 650+ which is more than enough for this bullet. It is a deadly combination for anything that comes to the call.
Just wanted to share. Jason

Awesome for yuo LRPV! Thanks for sharing. I havent gotten out yet this yr, each time I had the time & a kitchen pass, it was -20 without factoring the windchills. But I have been keeping myself entertained with the mighty metro hare and my RWS. 4 for 5 so far this yr...

But thanks again for stirring the primal blood..

Good picture Jason. I'm glad you can get out and have fun with a friend. Reminds me of my younger days. Can't do much walking now.

Very nice looking Coyote...and some great shooting to go along with it "Congratulations" on a nice Hunt with Friends! ;)

What brand of Snow Camo are You using...it looks great, almost like Natural Gear patterning?I need to get me some for this new year of Predator Hunting if and when it snows?

The coat is Natural gear and I like it a lot. I bought the coat on sale at Midway for like $35 and it worth 3 times that. It is very heavy and very hot though so it isn't that great for warmer days or a bunch of walking. The Bibs are from Cableas and are the open country style. I like the natural gear pattern better.
Thanks Jason

Thanks for the info LRPV....great looking coat, and all my regular camo is in Natural Gear...now I'll try to save up and get the Snow Camo coat too! ;)

My Predator Hunting Partner and I went out this evening on some local Conservation Ground...didn't call any Coyotes in this time and He took a wrong trail and almost got lost right before dark.....luckly we both had our cell phones and service way out in the woods so I ended up locating him and he circled back to the right trail. There's at least 1000 Acres there to get lost in,but he had a survival kit with him just in case something like this would ever happen!

I don't know what size you wear but Midway USA has clearance prices on a bunch of Natural gear stuff right now.

LRPV ... what was the crop under the snow?? looks kinda like alphalpha or sanfoin..

that's kinda spooky and unsafe if you want to take a shot and don't know where your partner is ....were you split up after you left the last stand????

First year alfalfa. It is a perfect spot. Creek bottom with corn/bean field and alfalfa on the hill. Get to call from the hay pile where they are comfortable coming to anyway. Always a bunch of tracks around the bales. Plus it's less than a mile from the house.

Thanks for sharing Jason! Wow, what a great time. I bet those 50 gr. V Max's really lay the hammer down. I use them in a 223 Rem on prairie dogs out west and they're lasers.
