Another 2 minute antelope season.

Another great season with my son for antelope.
I dropped the buck at 315 yards. I shook fawn in a can when the does started to trot off and they came right back even closer, he took his doe at 169 yards.
Both with my Savage build 6x6.8, 95g nosler HBT bullet.
We walked a circling mile into this ranch before day light to the area I knew a herd would be.
We could barely see them in the binos at 30 min before sunrise, legal shooting time, so we waited till 640 am and 2 minutes later had both tags filled.
I walked back a mile to the truck & got within a 1/2 mile and game carted the rest of the way.
That game cart sure worked wonders for my bones.
This is a Walk In Area, so cant drive around to get your game.

Nice work I always enjoy your write ups. I was after them saturday and Sunday unfortunately numbers are way down where I hunt. I passed a decent buck on Saturday trying to get a look at the older buck I watched him run off. He turned out to be the lesser of the two. I had him in the cross hairs at 100 yards after hoofing it about 3 miles trying to get into position on them but let him go. His one horn didn't have much curl to it and his shovels were very small.
I got within 600 yards of the better one later but the wind was howling and couldn't get the right angle to be confident of the drift.
Never did see him again Sunday. I was hunting over 10,000 acres and saw 2 bucks and maybe 16 does total.
Headed home tomorrow and may make another run at them.

Just noticed something you did that informed me. I always have a reticle drop information tag taped upside down on the right side of the stock butt to look at when doing long shots. I see yours taped right on the top of the scope's objective lens.

Gonna try moving one there and see if it's a better location.

The one I have on my scope is for my 90-95g antelope load, the one you can see on the side by the action is for my 55g coyote load. I can read both with little movement.

Thanks for the report. You are doing exactly what I want to with a new 6mm rifle build. Would you mind telling me what twist you are using? I've got a short action receiver made for a detachable box magazine and will probably put a 24" barrel on it. Thanks for your help.

The twist is 1/9", P3 grooved, 22" long heavy sporter bbl. by Black Hole Weapondry. It runs the 55-95g bullets into small holes on paper.
