Anodizing service?

Is there anywhere to have a one off, small item anodized w/o paying an outrageous price for the service?

TIA,
Bill

Probably not unless you find a shop that has a batch going out and they will include your part in their batch....

Bill, I'm taking a lot now, and would include your parts in my next batch, but maybe be 30-45 days. What type aluminum and can you remove the pads? and screws if any?

Butch, I don't know if the parts are 6061,7075 or something else. Kaiser AL stamped on the 3" flat bar and the angle's are 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 and the felt pads are removable. Thank you for the kind offer and any color would work or the plain silver used now.

Bill

Joe, I use soft and some shops will not use soft on 7075. Why, I do not know. If Bill is not in a hurry I could add no more than he has to my lot of about 180 pieces next month. I just received a nice order from Stuart and Annie Elliott of BRT Shooters Supply in Australia and this lot will be gone very soon.

My local anodizer charges a $60 minimum for a quick turnaround. If I can wait for 7 to 30 days for him to process it with some one's larger batch the price can less than a third of that. Also if you spend just about an hour and hand polish those pieces with some Wenol, the anodizing comes out waaaay nicer and consistent. Especially if you gonna color anodize. Doesn't have to be a mirror finish. Be sure to give them a good isopropyl alcohol bath to thoroughly remove all the polishing compound before you hand them off to you anodizer. Trust me. The extra effort is well worth it.

There's a small shop called Quick Turn Anodizing. They did some work for me. Not bad, not the greatest. But price was right and turn was 'quickish'

As with all finishing, prep is where the work is. You need to polish or brush your parts to an even defect free condition before you send it off. All your parts are probably 6061, but in the future you need to pay attention to that. Different alloys will color differently.

Butch, You are too kind taking on this project for me. When you're ready for the parts, please PM me with your shipping info and payment amount and type.

Thanks,
Bill
