Annie annealer set up

I just got my Annie set up on my giuard annealer. My main question is how far down past the shoulder should the tempilqu burn off. 1/4 or so. Any help getting me started setting this up is appreciated

I have had my Annie going for some time now. I anneal both 6BRX and 284 WIN cases. I use 1.9 sec for the 6BRX and about 2.3 sec for the 284's.
I use 750 Tempilac and find that with the intersection of the neck and the tapered section being right in the middle of the core diameter, the tempilac indicates 750 deg just to the joint of case and shoulder.

As it is so easy and quick, I anneal after every firing. I am sure that heating the neck to 750 for close to 2 seconds doesn't really "Anneal" the neck as that would take more time at temp, but my regimen makes for really consistent seating force (I use a K&M press with force gauge.

I appreciate it. I want to get it turned in. I am ready to do a big batch of .308. I have a bunch of once ,twice who knows how many firings brass that I'm going to anneal and start over.

I am just not confident in it yet. I wish the instructions from Doug or fluexon were better. I had it down when I was using the torch head. I just did not like the flame in the house and I want to use it year around.

Guys any more instructions or information is appreciated.

I bought my Annie in the first batch Fluxeon built. I DO HAVE HORROR STORIES!

But, all the problems were associated with getting a new design into production. After 50 years in the electronics industry, I am very familiar with this problem! So, I was patient and Fluxeon was right on top of my problems and gave me fantastic service.
Now, my Annie represents all they have learned and it is reliable as a stone!

I mainly anneal 6BRX and 284 WIN cases. And necked up 6.5-284 Lapua need way more time than W-W cases for the 284 WIN.

I experimented with different core gaps and made a coil from #4 solid copper that seems more efficient than the Litz wire coil supplied by Fluxeon.

What I do is use the coil and gap that keeps the annealing time around 2.0 sec. I think with more power and shorter times the heat doesn't propagate down the case to heat the bottle neck. So, I adjust to about 2.0 seconds. The 6BRX with Litz wire coil takes 1.7 sec and W-W 284 cases 2.2 sec. I must use the solid wire coil for Lapua 284 cases as the time goes way up with the Litz wire coil and I can stay around 2.2 sec with the solid coil. With 2.2 sec, I can anneal cases about as fast as one can load hoppers for the "automatic" annealers. Also, I did not go torch annealing as I believe maintaining a consistent flame takes a pressure regulator and gauge on the propane supply with a pre-set nozzle and you can't get away from the flame and propane bottles!
I can anneal on my office desk!

Certainly, the AMP is a better machine as it also varies energy as well as time and they tell you what energy and time to use for a particular case. The program number used when converted to a binary number allows two parameters to be set and to about a 12% accuracy. Considering the price differential, I am happy with my Annie and I am convinced I can vary the energy by changing coils with enough accuracy to still make annealing a second order efect.

Ok since I started the thread. I had my own horror story about the Annie. First it took three months longer to receive than I was told. It had a ferriet that would maybe do a .223 case. I told them I annealed all the way to 338 lapua. I was told yeah most people complain it's not big enough. So after three different ones I finally got one that would do 338. After one week my unit burnt out. I never got more than maybe a 100 .308 Winchester cases before it crapped out. After the PMs I received from several people I sent the unit back for a refund and purchased an AMP. I was very disappointed in the Annie. The only thing I can say is the guy was nice and easy to deal with. I was offered a replacement but unit but I wasn't going to chance another bad unit from stories I was told.

The AMP is amazing. I think I have over 1500 cases annealed on it. You guys can complain it does on piece of brass at a time. So does a giuard trimmer and everyone including myself self love them. Plus Alex at AMP is top notch.
