Annealing

For all you experienced benchrest guys. Am I to understand that y’all don’t anneal? Question is specific to both 6ppc and 30 br. As for 6ppc, if you’re not annealing, how many firings do you get out of a set of cases. For 30 br same question.
Thanks

I think they all anneal or shot brass only 3-4 times (but this is far less common)

I started annealing After every firing.
But i was going 5 times ... annealing got easier the more i did it.
I shot some 6bra 20+ times with out.

Shoot them until the p pocket gets too big... or they split at the neck. Imo

(Some i know buy new brass every barrel and don't anneal)

What makes you "understand" that benchrest shooters don't anneal?
Neither Tony Boyer nor Mile Ratigan mention it. I have not seen Any evidence that annealing happens at matches, and although I know 1000 yd guys do I thought I’d ask as far as SR goes. Thanks for the info.

I do not anneal, I used 150 pieces of brass on a 6br until the barrel had 2000 rounds without issues.

And you probably never will.

To do loading, much less annealing at a match, your probably going to do so in an enclosed trailer.

But i think for the most part, (and i could be incorrect) people load up enough ammo before a match to see them the whole way through the match. Including rounds for foulers & sighters. Probably more.

While i don't anneal my cases (although i really need to start doing so), i do know the short range BR people do.

How often is up to the individual.
