Annealing

A little off topic - mine isn't an AMP.
Most of what I shot in volume was fireformed wildcat (223AI and 20P). I got to the point where I was splitting necks on 10-15% per firing (and this was during the great components shortage). So, three of us went in on a Girard and I ended up doing all the work ;). Next 2 prairie dog trips - right at 5000 rounds fired for me and not one split neck.

Fellow members, I am new to annealing. I want to anneal and I'm trying to look at all the options and price points. I'm interested in finding out if anyone has experience with this annealing system. I know there are better and more expensive systems. But this seems to be a nice price point.
EP 2.0 BRASS ANNEALER (patent pending) | EP INTEGRATIONS

For what it's worth, a couple months ago I narrowed down my search to the EP 2.0 you show in the video and the ugly annealer. I purchased the ugly annealer and have not looked back. I do not have a single gripe with it. It's worked flawlessly and has shrinked my groups.

I chose the ugly because the machine has a clamp and x and y axis adjustments for the torch nozzle. I didn't want to bump my torch bottle and have to resetup. Also if I recall the ugly annealer is a but cheaper priced.

I will Google it and take a closer look. Thank you very much.

The nickel plating will definitely change the AMP settings. Nickel plated brass is still malleable but can be more brittle. This is what Aztec mode was made for. Analyze one piece to the point of failure and record the setting for applying the right amount of heat. Basically, send one to the gods so the rest may have a long life.

Hurts a tiny bit to cull one from the herd and send it to induction hell. I have some nickel plated 243 brass that I have set aside to run through my AMP to investigate. Just haven't done it yet. I'm die forming 6SLR from 243 brass and didn't want to put prep time into nickel plated brass for matches. I would consider it for hunting as the benefits of nickel compared to brass MIGHT be better for hunting.
I wonder how many people dont know what his handle stands for!

Been eyeing an AMP annealer, trying to justify the price tag. In general, is it known how long the life of brass will be extended by annealing regularly?
Almost indefinitely if you run a reasonable load and properly anneal after each firing. I have 24 firings on my original 200 pieces of Lapua 6BR brass formed to a 6 dasher. I’m running 3050fps with 105g LRHT and running 33.1gr of RL-15 powder. Still super accurate and winning competitions with just over 4800 firings on it. Over the last 1.5 years, I’ve culled about 25 pieces of the original 200 pieces for various reasons, but I’ve never had a single cracked neck. I’ve culled some of hairline cracks in the shoulder and/or body, the vast majority of the culled pieces have been for loose primer pockets.

For the sake of consistency, aren’t you suppose to anneal each time?
Every time is best but every third firing works as well. I’ve annealed over 10K pieces of brass for other shooters that didn’t want the hassle. I turn users brass around in one day and the annealing cost is really just to cover my time. I’m certainly not driving a Ferrari from all of the money I’ve made from annealing brass. Lol. PM me if I can help.

What I think I'm going to like about it is is also portable. I can take it to my camper at the range when I want to test.

I doubt that, do you know how many Amps annealing draws? Just don’t think you can run it from an outlet in your camper.

I may made a mistake when I reopened this old post. I was just trying to tag on to old annealing system posts. I appreciate those that have got back to me on the systems they are using today. For some reason I just keep leaning towards that EP 2.0 system. It's simple and it seems to work. I never realized they were so many annealing systems to choose from. I'm not ready to invest in induction annealing. I think the bench source is a solid product but twice the price of what I'm looking at. For where I am in my learning curve, I'm going to go with the EP 2.0. thanks for everybody's feedback.
