Annealing Question

If your holding them with your fingers and you need to drop it really quick your to hot.
Get a few old cases and heat up the neck area, and watch the color. When it changes you can see it.
Just get them to look like a Lapua case, and your done with it.
Some folks anneal ever time, others just when they think they need it.
I do all mine every 5th time they are shot, but I'm only doing in ground hogs.
Some of my older Lapua brass is on the 18th firing now, and is as good as new..
I'm getting old and lazy so I'm contemplating a K Light auto annealer.....

You can also buy temp-il-sticks from a large industrial supplier.
They are calibrated to melt in a narrow temp range. Mark on case, watch for melt, quench.
McMaster-Carr has them on page 519
"Write directly on the surface you're monitoring. These crayons melt at their rated temperature, giving you a clear, visual indication that your target temperature has been reached. Accuracy is ±1%.
Crayons are labeled with ° F and ° C temperatures. They include an aluminum holder."
