analytical scope reviews ?

I know we all have our favorite scopes and our favorite brands. And i have found over the years that some scopes work for my eyes and some don't, it doesn't matter what the price or brand is.

While like most shooters here i am always looking for a better (to my eyes) scope, it always come down to which really is the better scope. Yes you do get what you pay for, thats a given. And there are so many different products, and variables with those products and brands that perhaps it hasn't been done.

What i have been looking for but haven't found over the years is a good analytical review of comparable scopes, do any of you happen to know of one ? Thanks, blue

There's a guy named Ilya Koshkin who does a pretty nice job in my opinion. I believe he has some sort of background in Optics or a related field. His website is here:

He hangs out pretty extensively on OpticsTalk and Snipershide from what I can see. His comparison's have more of a tactical bent, but he gets into all of the different options and manufacturers. I bought a Vortex Razor HD spotting scope based on his review of it vs. Kowa and some of the other big name companies and I couldn't agree more with his assessment of it. It's maybe not *quite* equal to the Prominar's, but it's damn close.

Thanks jaychris, i have read his work over on optics talk. I know what i'm looking for would be a mighty tall order for someone to do in an analytical manner, however there are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge and i thought it was worth trying. blue
