An ugly rifle....

I'd much rather have an ugly rifle that shoots lasers than a pretty one I can't hit a barn with, haha. Nice writeup and great shooting!!

I applaud your approach . I LOVE taking the road less traveled . Keep going and and high five to your friend for CHAMBERING it . You could be a top notch smith , but if non of your work gets to compete it's useless , just collecting dust as someone's vanity build .
Keep going , never stop !

Alright, Anderson Buchanan (@boltman223) here is your virtual high five-- [super]5[/super]. Anderson has done 6-7 barrels for me and they are all shooters. This includes the three aforementioned 223/90vld barrels. One of his 223 barrels is on a non-ugly rifle....

Took this one to TX on a crazy road trip to Houston (Bayou Rifle) to shoot their monthly match in Feb 2016 (4 days, 3200 mile round trip for 60 shots....). Was a great time and met some genuinely awesome people. I shot my very first clean at 600. Here is the "worst" target I shot that day. It was the only one I had the opportunity to capture. The two high 9s are my sighters and the low 9 is a poor trigger pull on shot 20. Was thinking too much about achieving my personal best score of 199...
Did a similar rookie move in match 2 when I started thinking about my first 200...

I used this rifle for the two days of 2016 MR USFCN that I did not use the "ugly rifle". It also came to see action on the last day of the 1000yd FCN matches as my backup rifle. It also was used for the 2015 FCN MR Team match wherein our pick-up team took 3rd place.

Very impressive Drew! Shooting a clean on a relay 3 at Bayou is few and far between in FTR. Hate that I missed that match...would have liked to have meet you and saw this incredible round!

Congratulations! Hope to meet you next time.

Thanks. I did hope to meet you and Jade on that road trip, but if I remember correctly, Joe, Denys and Ben mentioned something about you hunting. I do believe that you have more than your fair share of cleans at Bayou, so in the end I guess that I didn't mind that you missed that match...;). Still thinking about a 200-30+X you had this year (now that is incredible). I look forward to meeting you on the line in the future. So many places to see and try, but I do have my eye on Palo Alto......Drew

Hello Drew! So you have your eye on Palo Alto! Excellent! It is my belief that there is no greater group of shooters gathered in one place than at a Palo Alto State Championship match! The conditions there are very trying and to win there, and even under those conditions, you had better not drop over 3-4 points total in 2 days of shooting in F-Open and probably not over 6-7 in F-T/R! The competition is the best I have witnessed at ANY Mid-Range competition! And they run a match as smoothly as a well oiled Swiss timepiece!
