An idea for smallbore shooters

We all know about how follow through is important with smallbore shooting due to the low velocity of the .22 RF round, and particularly with standard velocity as normally used by match shooters and others beyond 80 yards.
Something that helped me was to remove or adjust to the maximum the overtravel of the trigger.
The logic is that when the trigger breaks it moves back a short distance to the overtravel stop, hits the stop with a small impact which can move the rifle a very small amount. Taking out the overtravel stop or allowing the trigger to move past the break point may help. This is more effective when your rifle has a very light trigger pull. A very small amount may be the difference between an X and a 10, or God forbid a disgusting 9.

Be QUIET, will ya?!

But yeah, that's completely true. It doesn't just apply to match shooting either. On all firearms I have that will allow it, I have over-travel maxed out.

A nice "crisp" break with almost no travel SEEMS like a good idea, and I have used it effectively, but particularly in sports where you actually have to HOLD the rifle, it doesn't work out on the scoreboard.

Even the HVR on the walking rifle has all the sponge I can give it.

I'm watching this to see what BR shooters have to say. I've always "thought" it was something worth trying, but I hate messing with trigger adjustments. Mike in Ct

Nothing like that happens with BR rifles where 1-2 ounces is all that’s required and I doubt very much a rifle gets moved with anything other than recoil or mishandling.
