AN FYI ABOUT SHIPPING FRAGILE OPTICS

The pix below show the condition of a scope I received from another member shipped via UPS ground. I don’t think there was anything the shipper could have done to prevent such damage. Sadly I did not request insurance on the shipment. I’ve never received anything in such a condition before. I recently sent someone a scope via UPS, I hope it fares better. All of the shippers have been slow these days, but this is totally rediculous.

I don’t know if a claim would ever be paid but I will insure from now on.

Noticed most packages received now have damaged boxes to some degree. No care taken with anything these days.

I would say, find out the UPS CEO's email contact and send those photos but then again, unless it affects the corporate bottom line, they won't give two squirts about it.

I have found that shipping via Pirate Shipping has a benefit in addition to the low prices they offer whether it be shipped via UPS or USPS. They have insured shipping that is vendor independent. Any issue with a package they insured is settled directly with Pirate Shipping and NOT UPS or USPS. Their insurance rates are much lower than those offered by the carriers. I've not had to file a claim yet, but I get satisfaction with reasonable insurance rates.

Reminds me of a Nightforce I bought this year. I grabbed the box to find it empty. The scope was rolling on my sidewalk a few feet away. Luckily mine showed no damage but think I got lucky.
