Of course they do not mention massive government orders of ammo.
What massive orders are you talking about????

Not the army.

There are lots and lots of government agencies. Lots and lots and lots since the creation of the Homeland Security super state. Three letter agencies that order massive orders of practice ammo. That is why you are seeing "surplus" practice ammo over runs showing up everywhere. "Green primer" ammo for instance.

Not to mention state level government agencies, city, county, etc etc etc

Yeah, like last week the news article about EPA swat team serving a warrant on an auto shop falsely accused of illegally modifying street cars' emissions equipment. It was one of several "RAIDS" where EPA showed up in overwhelming numbers, body armor, and guns drawn. The EPA!

All US government agencies are bound by appropriations passed by Congress. I’m not aware of any huge increases in the past few years that would account for taking away from the consumer market. If you are I sure would like to see some proof.

As the original article points out, many government agencies are experiencing the same lack of inventory you are.

The article at the link below provides more REAL information, you should try to read it.

Vista Outdoor reported earnings on this last Thursday, they exceeded their prior estimates by 100%. They are making LOTS of ammo and LOTS of money. They also disclosed that their ammunition order backlog is now a “multi-billion dollar” amount not just the billion dollar amount previously disclosed.

Ammo is coming back and prices on some are dropping... I get ads everyday from places like Natchez and palmetto.... 420 rnds of .223 from palmetto in an ammo can $299 that's alot better than the $700-800 it was a few months ago if you could find it... People ran out and bought guns during the riots and talk of defending the police but that's pretty much stopped and ammo and guns are expensive so buying is slowing down....

It's getting to be a thing where this happens every ten years because of something.... Everytime just like Fred Sanford it's the big one and yet it's not... I am not saying it couldn't be but just buy your stuff when the sky is not falling and you will be fine... Ohh ya and get out and vote... When people stop hording prices will fall just like now... 9mm may not be $8.99 a box but it's down from $50 so it's a start.... Sucks still , yes but it will get better especially if 2022 midterms go our way which will knee cap all this crap.... Those are coming up soon...Hang in there...

Can it even happen with the voting machines and all!
Now back to ammo, are you guys seeing any popular rifle ammo out there yet , like say Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor American Gunner? You were able to buy it online for about $45 for 50 rounds, now it’s priced in the $90’s and has never showed up for sale on the internet vendors sites.

Funny but true; while waiting for the wife's NICS to clear I wandered over to the used rifle racks. Not a Remington C F to be found but ten 6.5 Creedmores from Savage, Tikka, and others. Maybe Larry just bought an estate from a CM collector's family but just struck me as odd that there were so many and not one Remington ( the Huntsville factory was just a few minutes away).

My local academy had Norma and nosler factory ammo the other day... Because it is higher than say Remington it stays on the shelves.... Probably $30 a box.... That's what I have been seeing federal gold medal in .308 lately....

Well that makes ten cent primers look like a better deal then!
