Ammo Prices Stout!

A couple years ago, I walked into my local gun store and spied a big cardboard box full of ammo on a side table. It had a few boxes I could use but it had a lot of 30-06 for $15-20/box. I bought it figuring someday I might need it. Glad I did!50DE1618-45F1-4A6E-8A1C-EF85702EC614.jpeg

All of us may be in for sticker shock on ammo in this free for all, when it shows up for sale. I bought this same ammo last year from them for $43.99 .https://www.brownells.com/ammunitio...r-140gr-boat-tail-hollow-point-prod99007.aspx
Let's be very clear about this. That is 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition. It has unlimited muzzle velocity without excess pressure. It has unlimited range. Its accuracy/precision is limited solely by the shooter. It has infinite knockdown power and in some cases can even shoot around corners. They could charge twice as much and it would STILL be a bargain. ;)

Joshb, Got a better one than that. Many years ago, a friend of mine had his wife buy him some deer hunting ammo. She hauled a case of 30-06, 1000 rounds total and she bought it for about $10, the price of 20 rounds. Guess once the shock of this wore off, I would have returned to the store and made the mistake right. He didn't.

Are you expecting the deer around your place to organize an attack? LOL Better get an M1 to shoot all that.
The tendency came down thru the men in my family. If you see a deal on something you might need, buy a lot of it. My Grandfather was a boat builder. I found boxes of new tools in his attic.
I found 20 cases of shotgun shells in my Dad’s attic.
My wife says I’m a hoarder.
I think I’m prepared, ‘cause I did finally find a nice ‘06.7D061C1A-83E3-4815-A86E-2A0DB9914DBD.jpeg

I like your thinking. Buy the ammo first and then you have a reason to buy another gun.

Not that long ago, Academy was having a sale on Hornaday Black 6.5 CM ammo, 140 BTHP and a friend found it shot extremely well out of his new Thompson. So he bought somewhere north of a thousand rounds at $18.99 a box of twenty. Good investment!

I bought 3 bricks of Armscor 22lr back the first of the year for $19 each I believe. Now its $99 to $199. Yes $199! Oddly enough cheaper than dirt sold out at the $199 price. I so want a 9mm/357 Blackhawk revolver but with 9mm at $35-50 a box I may look for a 45acp/45Lc or a 40/10mm.

I went to a gun show today and those that had ammo were insane. for CF ammo, including shotgun shells, was running from $1 per shot to $3 per shot. 6.5 CMoor was $60 for 20 rounds.
I saw a few primers that were aged at best. Wolf SR Std for $100 per 1000.

Was anyone biting at those prices?

We use a lot of Federal Automatch 22LR for steel silhouette matche at my club. Most of my current stock cost me about $10/box of 325 rounds, bought around 8 years ago. A few weeks ago this stuff was sold out on line, and last week it was around $150 / box on line with high shipping costs on top of that. Today I noticed some for around $60 / box with more normal shipping charges. Still a long way to go but all progress is welcomed at this point.
