Ammo plant specializing in primers coming to Texas

Is it just me or does some of this sound a bit sketchy? First, I have never heard of Expansion nor can I find any real information on them other than a very sparse website. Secondly, the Lone Star Army Ammunition site is currently an EPA superfund site undergoing remedial cleanup work so it seems there would be a lot of problems using the site for anything at the moment. Lastly, does it sound plausible that Expansion has already spent $100 Million??? You spend that kind of money on a new plant in any state and the Governor and other luminaries are usually buzzing around with lots of press notices and photo shoots. I can't find anything besides the original Texas Gazette article. If someone lives nearby I would love to hear if they have seen any activity at the plant.

I'm raising the BS flag on the $100m.

lots of info out there on them

more info on the Texarkana plant

Thanks for the info Jim, but it just reinforces my concern. The Buzzfile says they have $500K in revenues and 20 employees. No way some company that size has $100 Million to spend! Hopefully the rest of the story is true and they get up and running!

If they end up competing with Vista then Vista will probably buy them too. In lots of other industries the FTC gets involved to ensure that mergers and acquisitions don’t create anticompetitive monopolies, but I don’t remember them getting involved when Vista swallowed all the primer makers.

I had the same reaction. Maybe they are referring to $ put in by the superfund to remediate the site.
Looking at what's there now, it's hard to see where $100M went.

Looks legit to me. Check out the worker perks. I am all over that free weekly car wash!

The company that I work for has all corporate employees vehicles detailed every quarter. I once worked for a start up oil and gas company that gave free haircuts and dry cleaning….lol.

There are primers, and there are high-quality primers. The popular primer manufacturers for precision shooting have honed their products over many decades. Increasing the primer supply will be great and may deflect prices downward generally, but won't necessarily help fill my needs.
